Looks good Marian. I like the fact you can replay the mini games. That's always fun!

I like it when you can replay mini-games too, Gerry. It gives the player another shot at trying to solve a puzzle that was skipped, without having to play the whole game over. I think it's a nice extra.

Yes, it was a pretty big file size for a HOPA. Let us know what you think, Cathy. smile

Hi Cathy,
Were you able to finish this game? Mine keeps freezing and locking up and after checking the BF forum tips, there are 8 pages of people complaining that this game Freezes constantly and still no fix from BF.
I am not complaining too much since I got this one Free for a previous game that did not work.

Starcom, I just looked at the freezing problems with the game; they only appear to be happening with Windows 8.1. I'm sure you already tried turning off the custom cursor? Sorry about your problems with the game, and I hope that there will be a fix.

Hi Marian,
Thanks for your reply, yes I did try turning off the custom cursor and also the Special Effects, + I tried Windows 7 compatibility mode amongst other suggestions by the BF techies and still no go.
And as you mentioned, hopefully there will be a Fix in the works, I have put the game aside and will wait.

And I would like add my congratulations to your promotion to "True Blue Boomer "

Starcom, I just read an interesting post on the BF forum for this game, which is as follows:

Quote:
Just dropping by to say that if you are trying to play this game on Windows 8.1 and your internet browser is IE, this game will not work. I was having issues with other games doing the same thing, freezing, locking up, etc., did some research on it and found out that 8.1 is not compatible with IE8 or above. I switched mine to Mozilla Firefox and have had no issues since. I played the game without any problems. Hope this helps some of you.

This is only one person who has posted this so of course it's a long shot, but if you use IE, it's probably worth a try.

Wow Marian, this is spooky, I was just about to say something about that, if it is okay, I will copy and paste what I had just finished typing (If it is too long of an answer, then please be free to delete it), well here it is:

Well I was able to finish this game with only 1 more crash playing on Windows 8 64 Bit, here are 3 things I did or tried :

Step 1)
I uninstalled the game and then before reinstalling the game, I right-clicked on the Games setup file, in this case the file is : bigfishgames_p220836319_s1_l1.exe, on the pop up menu, I choose Properties, then I clicked on the Compatibility Tab, placed a Checkmark on « Run this Program in Compatibility mode for : And choose Windows 7, then I clicked on Apply and then OK. Once done, I installed the game. Now the game played for about 20 minutes before crashing, so on to Step 2.

Step 2 :
Then I tried this from a poster on the BF forum :

Just dropping by to say that if you are trying to play this game on Windows 8.1 and your internet browser is IE, this game will not work. I was having issues with other games doing the same thing, freezing, locking up, etc., did some research on it and found out that 8.1 is not compatible with IE8 or above. I switched mine to Mozilla Firefox and have had no issues since. I played the game without any problems. Hope this helps some of you.

Note : For this guys tip to work? If one has more than One Browser like me, you have to designate Firefox as your Default Browser
I played for 30 minutes with No crashes, now on to Step 3.

Step 3 :
Confused or frustrated that a downloaded game or any Non-Internet game should rely on the Browser one has is absurd, so I switched back as IE 11 being my Default Browser and I was able to play the rest of the game with No crashes and this after playing over 2 hours worth.

My other reason of disbelief or frustration that a game should be depended on using Firefox, what happens to those who don't have Firefox or dislikes FF, those who prefer just having IE or Opera or Chrome, etc. Is this the way to go? Or maybe it is just a coincidence that the game worked for the poster by switching to FF.

That's very interesting. I don't have an answer as to why the Firefox solution might have helped, but programming and compatibility issues can be a complicated thing.

I have Firefox and IE both on my computer - I use Firefox primarily but have IE as a backup. It's difficult for me to say whether IE and this particular game was the issue - but I'm glad you were able to finally play it.

Thankfully things like this don't happen very often. I'm glad I'm not a programmer. laugh

Could not agree with you more on that point and to think some of my friends wanted me to become a Programmer, hah, and go Bonkers hardwall trying to keep up with all the new and forever changing programs, no thank you.

Take care and thanks for your help.

This is such a beautiful game and could be so enjoyable. However, as the 9 pages of posts show, the freezing problem is a horror. I have been patiently waiting for them to fix the issue but it doesn't look like it will be done. It's just over a month and still nothing. cry

Smitty, have you tried the potential fix that was posted in this thread? It seems to have worked for at least some people. wave
