I just got an email offer from Apple to download a free upgrade to my iMAC (purchased it in 2013). I have upgraded it once to Maverick OSX. Does anyone have or know something about OSX Yosemite? I like what I have now and I'm not sure about another upgraded even if it is free. I'm not tech smart so I'm not sure I could handle the changes. Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm stuck with OS X Snow Leopard with my late 2006 iMac which originally came with OS X Tiger. I was always impressed how easy it was to upgrade OS X. If it was possible for me to upgrade further I would do so. Usually there are severel interesting new features available.

iMac is just a perfect computer for whole family for browsing and reading e-mail etc. Saves my nerves compared to Windows PC!

Going to a newer version of Mac OS is not such a big deal if you're already running a 64-bit Mac OS. However if you're updating from Snow Leopard or earlier, you may find you can no longer use Rosetta for older programs. Rosetta helps with Mac OSX programs (and games) that were made for PowerPC processors rather than Intel processors. For example, I was able to run Myst III on Snow Leopard after installing Rosetta.

But Maverick doesn't support Rosetta anyway, so you're not losing anything by going to Yosemite.
