I keep seeing references to windows 10 all over. Some games say they are compatible with windows 10 and there was a review of windows 10 which didn't really tell me much. I also read that there might me a free upgrade for windows 8 and 8.1 users to windows 10. Does anyone have any info on this and also why skip the number 9? Are they taking a page from Leisure Suit Larry?

I installed it when it hit my MSDN account - so far I'm liking it, no complaints here. Does it seem anything like Windows 7, InlandAZ, or more like Windows 8 ??

I hope you get mine installed in a VM this week now that things are starting to slow down here. That's what I've been reading - you can get the "feel" you want but still take advantage of all the stability and speed that Windows 8 offers.

" The overall feel is more like a desktop again." That sounds like my cup of tea, thanks, InlandAZ. [Not that I'll be venturing anywhere near anything past Win7 for a long, long time !! ]

If there is anything Microsoft does well, it's supporting their operating systems. With it being supported until 2020, Windows 7 is what I've been putting on all the new computers with the exception of one individual who wanted Windows 8.1. I set up a local business owner's new system and was able to recreate his XP desktop to perfection on a Saturday. When he fired up his new computer on Monday morning, he told me he didn't miss a single beat with his business on Windows 7. That wouldn't have happened with Windows 8.1.

I have Win98SE, WinXP and Win7 on my computers - which my Son-in-law looks after for me. And, due to him, all three machines are running very well. So I'm a happy bunny EDIT : By that I meant to say I am very happy with what I've got and "who needs Win10 !!!!"
