Has anyone else done level 12 yet? I am guessing one needs to do something with that 'brick wall' in order to get another key, but cannot figure out the pattern I need to use to 'do' it....

Ok, start by going down the left wall, clicking on #2, #5, #8, #11. After this first column, what you will do is to click on col 3 for col 2, col 4 for col 3, col 5 for col 4, etc. What you look for is a dark sq in the left column - ignore the color of the column you are clicking on - this is important! concern yourself only with what is just left of the column you will click on. if it is lit, go to the next one, if it is not lit, then click on the sq just to the right of it. if you mess up, it's not a problem - just remember to click to the right of any dark sq to light it. if you mess up, fix the mess-up before you go on. keep going till you reach the last column, and when you have nearly completed it, it takes over for you and finishes it.

I am doing well on level 12, have the LARGE key now and the 'other' screwdriver, have tried key on ALL cabinets/lockers, have moved all furniture that will move, have those numbers from the wall (they change every time I leave the game and come back to it) and am stumped as to just how to get rid of third gate (I found the 'secret' ladder up and had a bit of fun going around and around in circles ending up in the oddest place from there), anyway, I'm stuck again. Can you help me?

You go back to the first room and work the console there to remove the third laser, then return to the third room via the upper level passage. when you come out and go to the end of the hall, you'll use those numbers, and they are random generated.
