Having trouble in the Trade House - or rather not in the trade house.
I'm standing in front of the 5 symbol lock on the door to the Trade House, but when I click on each symbol in turn, it merely clicks on and off - it changes colour but then returns to the same symbol.
I am obviously missing something, unless my venerable old XP machine is dying.
Anybody help me?

Previous to this, did you take a look through the front windows? On a table just inside the left-hand window is a diagram with 5 symbols.

If so:

Click to reveal..
You now need to replicate the sequence. But note that the triangle is the other way up so the sequence is reversed.

Let us know if you are still having problems.

Yes, I looked at the symbols through the window.

No progress yet

I'm not sure what the difficulty might be, then. Let's wait for someone familiar with the game who can offer some advice.

I went back to make sure that I had seen the 5 shapes, but the same problem occurred.

I touch each lever (or whatever it is) in turn, and each shape lights up orange in turn, but nothing changes position.

Today is a new day.

Today is my birthday.

Today I worked out my Myst V
problem. Using the remaining several of my brain cells I have deduced that I, like Pooh, am a Bear of Little Brain whom Long Words Bother.

I refuse to acknowledge the depth of my ignorance which led to the experience, but suffice it to say that I have Progressed, and have now Entered the Trade thingy.

Happy Birthday me!

Trouble with the Bahro!

He/she/it has failed to return my slate.

I have taken the elevator in the Trade House and arrived on the beach where the maze icon is, but when I link back to the bubble there does not seem to be a slate awaiting me. I assume that this is the bubble outside the Trade House?
Either my particular Bahro is a kleptomaniac or I have done someting wrong.

I have a horrible feeling that it is the latter and I am maligning an innocent Bahro.

Anybody help?

Here is some info from a walkthrough I found:

Click to reveal..
Step off the elevator and you will be confronted with 4 corridors. Each of these branches off twice more. At each junction is a colored button. At the end of each branch is a wall with a final colored button.

Remember the illustration you saw in the Trade House with the 4 colors? That is the route you need to follow in order to exit the maze.

Solution: With the blue junction behind you, walk forwards and press the red button. Right and press the red button. Right and press the green button. Left and press the blue button to open the door.

On the Beach

Exit and go to the pedestal on the right. Note the maze icon. Press the icon to return to the bubble (where the Bahro has returned your slate). To get back to the tree pedestal, you need to draw the maze icon:

Maze

Drop the slate, back off and a Bahro will take your slate to the beach for you. Go to the pedestal and the maze icon will appear. Link to the maze pedestal and pick up your slate.

Let us know if you still need help.

I did indeed press the semi-circular icon and linked back to the bubble outside the Trade House, but I cannot find the slate.
What do I need to press to re-acquire the slate? Nothing seems to yield the wretched thing.

I found this information on another forum; maybe it will help:

Quote:
Watch the Bahro closely when he is at your slate. If he scratches his head, he doesn't understand it, which means you haven't drawn it accurately.

If he picks it up and disappears, it's no good.

If he puts his hand on it and links with it, then BINGO and it will show up on the pedestal.

If you're getting results A or B but not C then unfortunately it means your drawing is not accurate.

I will have to go back into the Trade House and re-do the part where I arranged for the elevator to take me up to the upper floor - I was so eager get on the elevator that as soon as the Bahro arrived to pick up my slate, I did not wait to see if he approved of my artistic talent. I just assumed that, if I could make the elevator work, everything was OK.

I will post my progress later on.

OK I have succeeded, though quite how I managed it is a mystery.
I am now trying to find this rock tunnel.

Thanks for the assistance.

Further trouble, this time in Todelmer.

I have spied the towers and have jotted down the Bahro symbol seen on the second tower, but I do not seem to have the slate.
I don't think I have seen it since I arrived in Todelmer - I could not take it off the pedestal in the Keep, and haven't seen it since.

I saw what appeared to be a pedestal on top of one of the towers, but I cannot, of course, get at it.

Can someone help me please?

Have you checked the walkthrough here?

Let's hope that a Myst 5 player might be able to offer you some assistance, too.

Marion, I think I have managed to acquire the slate, though I am not quite sure if it is the right one.

I shall press on.
