I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy.
J. D. Salinger (1919 - )

A clergyman was walking down the street when he came upon a group of about a dozen boys, all of them between 10 and 12 years of age.

The group surrounded a dog. Concerned lest the boys were hurting the dog, he went over and asked "What are you doing with that dog?"

One of the boys replied, "This dog is just an old neighborhood stray. We all want him, but only one of us can take him home. So we've decided that whichever one of us can tell the biggest lie will get to keep the dog."

Of course, the reverend was taken aback. "You boys shouldn't be having a contest telling lies!" he exclaimed. He then launched into a ten minute sermon against lying, beginning, "Don't you boys know it's a sin to lie," and ending with, "Why, when I was your age, I never told a lie."

There was dead silence for about a minute. Just as the reverend was beginning to think he'd gotten through to them, the smallest boy gave a deep sigh and said, "All right, give him the dog."

By the time a Marine pulled into a little town, every hotel room was taken. ''You've got to have a room somewhere,'' he pleaded. ''Or just a bed, I don't care where.'' ''Well, I do have a double room with one occupant, a Navy guy,'' admitted the manager, ''and he might be glad to split the cost. But to tell you the truth, he snores so loudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. I'm not sure it'd be worth it to you.'' ''No problem,'' the tired Marine assured him. ''I'll take it.''
The next morning the Marine came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. ''How'd you sleep?'' asked the manager. ''Never better.'' The manager was impressed. ''No problem with the other guy snoring, then?'' ''Nope, I shut him up in no time,'' said the Marine. ''How'd you manage that?'' asked the manager. ''He was already in bed, snoring away, when I came in the room,'' the Marine explained. ''I went over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, said, 'Goodnight, beautiful,' and he sat up all night watching me.''

The strong young man at the construction site was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen. After several minutes, the older worker had had enough.

"Why don't you put your money where your mouth is," he said. "I will bet a week's wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that outbuilding that you won't be able to wheel back."

"You're on, old man," the braggart replied. "Let's see what you got."

The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles. Then, nodding to the young man, he said, "All right. Get in."

There's this old priest who got sick of all the people in his parish who kept confessing to adultery. One Sunday, in the pulpit, he said, "if I hear one more person confess to adultery, I'll quit!" Well, everyone liked him, so they came up with a code word. Someone who had committed adultery would say they had "fallen".

This seemed to satisfy the old priest and things went well, until the priest died at a ripe old age. About a week after the new priest arrived, he visited the Mayor of the town and seemed very concerned. The priest said, "you have to do something about the sidewalks in town. When people come into the confessional, they keep talking about having fallen." The Mayor started to laugh, realizing that no-one had told the new priest about the code word.

Before the mayor could explain, the priest shook an accusing finger at the mayor and said, "I don't know what you're laughing about, your own wife fell three times this week."

A man was stopped by a game-warden in Northern Michigan recently with two buckets of fish leaving a lake well known for its fishing.

The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied to the game warden, "No, sir. These are my pet fish."

"Pet fish?!" the warden asked.

"Yes, sir. Every night I take these here fish down to the lake and let them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets, and I take em home."

"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!"

The man looked at the game warden for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll show you. It really works."

"OK. I've GOT to see this!" The game warden was curious, now. The man poured the fish in to the lake and stood and waited. After a several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, "Well?"

"Well, What?" the man responded. "When are you going to call them back?" The game warden prompted.

"Call who back?" The man asked.

"The fish." replied the warden.

"What fish?" The man asked.

Peter decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob. They loaded up Peter's station wagon and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. They pulled into a nearby farm house and asked the attractive lady of the house if they could spend the night.

"I'm recently widowed," she explained, "and I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house."

"Not to worry," Peter said, "we'll be happy to sleep in the barn."

Nine months later, Peter got a letter from the widow's attorney. He then went up to visit his friend Bob and said, "Bob, do you remember that good-looking widow at the farm we stayed at?"

"Yes, I do."

"Did you happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and have sex with her?"

"Yes, I have to admit that I did."

"Did you happen to use my name instead of telling her your name?"

Bob's face turned red and he said, "Yeah, I'm afraid I did."

"Well, thanks! She just died and left me everything!"

Twenty four hours from now I won't have a care in the world. Except for moving, and hoping it won't rain, or my truck breaking down, or not having enough money, or losing my hair, or growing old, or growing ugly, or shrinking, or worrying my sister will move back in with me. yes

Except for those things I won't have a care in the world. turkey

That's 24 hours from now. cool

Right now I still have a couple of cares. Like it being after midnight, and I'm still not in bed.

Ahm tard. tired

I'm also afraid that today is just a dream, and I'll wake up and it's Ground Hog Day. slapforehead

Good morning boomies! It's a rainy, gloomy, yucky day with rapidly falling temps. Yesterday was our last pleasant day before we admit that winter is upon us.

I'll be in the corner all day...

Have an awesome day!

Terrific Tuesday and Happy Veteren's Day puppy

We have a full house...son is sick (Nov. gets him every year), kids are happily ensconced next to him on the couch playing Wii, and Soot is home. We will hopefully get some wood stocked in, get a walk, and make it to Bible Study tonight. The cold weather is supposed to find us by Friday eek wave

A hearty thank you to all Veterans and their families! bravo

Cool and overcast so far, but clearing up mid-morning as usual. Gonna be a lovely day.

Outdoorsies all present and fed. Penelope not here yet, but she will wander in when she wants, eat all the grapes and sunflower seed on her plate and then wander back home. She will probably make a stop at the neighbor's and sit on her porch railing and nest in her flower box while staring in at her. Very cute to see. Penelope's eyes are so expressive!

Off to the thrift store again today. Hadn't been in quite a while (low on cash) but yesterday I scored a 1959, Have Gun Will Travel board game in PERFECT shape! It is really nice (I collect old board games) and it's selling on ebay for approx 80 bucks. Nice, since I paid a whole 1.50 for it. So good! I'm hoping whoever donated that (and another game from the 60's) will have some more out today. Crossing fingers.

WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.

Hi guys. I'm home and looking for my pillow now.I had a split shift today. I'm beginning to think I'm not young enough to keep this pace up. The Blisses take it for granted that all they ask of me is OK with me, but it's getting harder and harder to keep up with. I think that they are just asking too much of me. Also there is something seriously wrong with their cat today. She just cried and cried all morning and part of tonight's shift. I tried to tell them that there was a problem with her,but they did nothing. I would have brought her to the vet today but Mike just said there was nothing they could do. That made me very angry. I just hope that she's just still OK when I go back on Thursday. sad

Night all.

Midgie hearts

It was the small flakes, if it had been the nice big fluffy flakes there would have been a lot more. lol glad that therapy today helped the shoulder feel better. HUGS!!!

Aw Midge HUGS. Prayers their kitty is better by the time you go back.

Time to take Sassy out once more and then find my pillow. Night everybody sleep well!!
