Depends on what you are trying to do???
If you are trying to get a screenshot in Windows 8.1, just press the Windows key plus the Print Screen key. Whatever was on the screen at the time is now saved as a .jpg file in your Pictures folder under a file named Screenshots.
But I have no idea what you are asking...

After using the Print Screen button, check the Pictures folder Draclvr mentioned to see if the screenshot is there. Holding down the Alt key and pressing Print screen will take a screenshot of only your active window instead of your whole desktop. Here is a how-to on taking screenshots using the Print Screen button. http://www.7tutorials.com/4-ways-take-screenshots-windows-8-81-using-built-toolsIn Windows 8 I use the Snipping Tool so I can outline the area on my screen I want to take a picture of. That creates a smaller file which is easier for emailing. Here is a how-to on using the Snipping Tool http://www.7tutorials.com/how-use-snipping-toolYou can also check YouTube videos for using the Print Screen button or the Snipping Tool if you're having trouble. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ I'm still being amused by how the ***main forum menu*** is abbreviating the name of this thread as: Re: print screen shot butt... That would be a much worse problem.

How funny! I never even noticed that... That would be a different problem! I also use the Snipping Tool in Windows 8 all the time. That file will be saved straight to your Pictures file and won't be in a sub-folder like using the Windows key plus the Print Screen key. Those go to the Screenshots folder. Jenny, I can't get anything at all to happen if I press Alt plus the Print Screen key...?

Jenny, I can't get anything at all to happen if I press Alt plus the Print Screen key...? You need to have the program or window selected. Click on it with your mouse so the focus is on that window. Also you may have to paste into MS Paint or some other Imaging program from the clipboard.

Might have to try it later. I think I'd rather use the Snipping Tool and avoid Paint altogether... one of my favorite things about Windows 8.1 is the screenshot feature.

Yeah, I've been using it since 2009 in Windows 7 - I just went and found it and pinned to the Taskbar since I use it so often.

does it work for the guide in a ce game, people are mad because the cursed objects are now only in the back not in the story in the guide you havwe to ply they hit home and search for the curse objects. Using Print Screen and the Snipping Tool should work for whatever is onscreen, whether it is a guide or the game itself. You may want to temporarily change the game to "windowed" mode in the game options if you want to "paste" your screenshot into another image program (like MS Paint or Irfanview) and save using that program. I have not actually used the Windows 8 screenshot method that uses the Windows Key + the Print Screen key to automatically save a screenshot. This site shows several ways of taking screenshots on Windows 8 http://www.7tutorials.com/4-ways-take-screenshots-windows-8-81-using-built-toolsTheir method #2 shows the automatic way of doing it -- the one that saves the screenshot without having to "paste" it anywhere.
