I can think of nothing less pleasurable than a life devoted to pleasure.
John D. Rockefeller (1839 - 1937)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Boss, I've got to have a raise," the salesman said to his sales manager. "There are three other companies after me."
"Is that a fact?" the manager asked. "What other companies are after you?"
"The electric company, the phone company, and the gas company."
~~~~~~~~~

Before going to Europe on business, a man drove his Rolls-Royce to a downtown New York City bank and went in to ask for an immediate loan of $5,000.

The loan officer, taken aback, requested collateral and so the man said, "Well then, here are the keys to my Rolls-Royce."

The loan officer promptly had the car driven into the bank's underground parking for safe keeping, and gave him $5,000.

Two weeks later, the man walked through the bank's doors, and asked to settle up his loan and get his car back. "That will be $5,000 in principal, and $15.40 in interest", the loan officer said. The man wrote out a check and started to walk away.

"Wait sir", the loan officer said, "while you were gone, I found out you are a millionaire. Why in the world would you need to borrow $5,000?"

The man smiled. "Where else could I park my Rolls-Royce in Manhattan for two weeks and pay only $15.40?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A man was driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back seat. The police stop him and say that he can't drive around with the penguins in the car and should take them to the zoo. The man agrees and drives off. The next day the same man is driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back and again. He is stopped by the same police officer who says, "Hey! I though I told you to take those to the zoo." The man replies "I did. Today I'm taking them to the movies."
It seems a young farm boy accidentally overturned his wagon load of corn. The farmer who lived nearby heard the noise. "Hey Willis!!" the farmer yelled. "Forget your troubles. Come in and eat dinner with us. Then I'll help you get the wagon back up." "That's mighty nice of you," Willis answered, "but I don't think Pa would like me to."
"Nonsense, come on!" the farmer insisted. "Well, okay," the boy finally agreed, "but Pa won't like it."
After a hearty dinner, Willis thanked his host. "I feel a lot better now, but I know Pa is going to be real upset."
"Don't be foolish!" the neighbor said with a smile. "By the way, where is your Pa?"
"Under the wagon."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

There were two evil brothers. They were rich, and used their money to keep their ways from the public eye. They even attended the same church, and looked to be perfect Christians.

Then, their pastor retired, and a new one was hired. Not only could he see right through the brothers' deception, but he also spoke well and true, and the church started to swell in numbers. A fund-raising campaign was started to build a new assembly.

All of a sudden, one of the brothers died. The remaining brother sought out the new pastor the day before the funeral and handed him a check for the amount needed to finish paying for the new building.

"I have only one condition," he said. "At his funeral, you must say my brother was a saint." The pastor gave his word, and deposited the check.

The next day, at the funeral, the pastor did not hold back. "He was an evil man," he said. "He cheated on his wife and abused his family." After going on in this vein for a small time, he concluded with,

"But, compared to his brother, he was a saint."

One Sunday morning George burst into the living room and said, "Dad! Mom! I have some great news for you! I am getting married to the most beautiful girl in town. She lives a block away and her name is Susan. After dinner, George's dad took him aside, "Son, I have to talk with you. Look at your mother, George. She and I have been married 30 years, she's a wonderful wife and mother, but, she has never offered much excitement in the bedroom, so I used to fool around with women a lot."

"Susan is actually your half sister, and I'm afraid you can't marry her." George was brokenhearted.

After eight months he eventually started dating girls again. A year later he came home and very proudly announced, "Diane said yes! We're getting married in June." Again his father insisted on another private conversation and broke the sad news. "Diane is your half sister too, George."

"I'm awfully sorry about this." George was livid! He finally decided to go to his mother with the news his father had shared.

"Dad has done so much harm. I guess I'm never going to get married," he complained. "Every time I fall in love, Dad tells me the girl is my half sister."

"Hee hee," his mother chuckled, shaking her head, "Don't pay any attention to what he says. He's not really your father."

A blind man walks into a restaurant and sits down. The waiter, who is
also the owner, walks up to the blind man and hands him a menu.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I am blind and can't read the menu. Just bring me a
dirty fork from a previous customer. I'll smell it and order from
there."

A little confused, the owner walks over to the dirty dish pile and picks
up a greasy fork. He returns to the blind man's table and hands it to
him. The blind man puts the fork to his nose and takes in a deep breath.

"Ah, yes, that's what I'll have -- meatloaf and mashed potatoes."

Unbelievable, the owner thinks as he walks towards the kitchen. The cook
happens to be the owner's wife. He tells her what had just happened.

The blind man eats his meal and leaves.

Several days later, the blind man returns and the owner mistakenly
brings him a menu again.

"Sir, remember me? I'm the blind man."

"I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you. I'll go get you a dirty fork."

The owner retrieves a dirty fork and brings it to the blind man.

After another deep breath, the blind man says, "That smells great. I'll
take the macaroni and cheese with broccoli."

Walking away in disbelief, the owner thinks the blind man is screwing
around with him and tells his wife that the next time the blind man
comes in he's going to test him.

The blind man eats and leaves.

He returns the following week, but this time the owner sees him coming
and runs to the kitchen.

He tells his wife, "Mary, rub this fork on your panties before I take
it to the blind man."

Mary complies and hands her husband the fork. As the blind man walks in
and sits down, the owner is ready and waiting.

"Good afternoon, sir, this time I remembered you and I already have
the fork ready for you."

The blind man puts the fork to his nose, takes a deep whiff, and says,
"Hey I didn't know that Mary worked here..."

Have a great Friday Joe, Space Quest, Bets and all who come in after me. wave

It's still Thursday night here. Unless something goes awry, I have a three day weekend. happydance I was supposed to do something with my friend tomorrow, but she has a pretty big fiasco going on, so she may have to cancel. I'll know hopefully sometime tomorrow morning. If she isn't able to do anything, Thorsgoats and I may go shopping for some things we need late in the afternoon, after he gets off.

As for now, I'm off to sleep. Have a great Friday, everyone. fall

Happy friday gaming all. Just returned from grocer-ing and that store was so cold -good grief someone turned on the AC and how. And it's warm outdoors and I walked in all fuzzily warm and walked out half hour later oozing ice cold. Brrrrr. Sittin' in the sun now but my nose is still cold. And that's my complaint for the day.

I got some Gardenburger brand patties and they are good. They certainly have improved that vegge food.

Time to start the day

It's only 2 pm and I'm falling asleep. I stayed up till 2 am last night because the Apartments (which have been fairly quiet lately) decided to erupt. At 11pm, 3 police cars arrived, then another car (found out later probably the mother of one of the tenants). Seems that from what I could hear, a couple who had been 'together' for 7 years were at it again. He smashed the back of her head into the post of a closet, leaving a bump on her head. Might have been more drama and don't know it the guy was even still there, but after 3 hours, everyone finally left. Police in a good mood, the 'mom' in a good mood. Pictures taken of 'injuries', etc. Guess that couple is still together, despite numerous domestic violence calls for several years. They seem so nice, look nice, have 2 or 3 small kids and walk up the street happily and all that. Dunno why he decided to attack again. At least it was exciting, but staying up so late is getting to me. Ugh.

Also another NEW tenant there. A small white car was parked in front of MY house all day and night. I turned on the recorder and finally 'caught' who was driving. It's a nice looking, 40ish male. He had just come home with what looked like a nice new shiny wrapped 'sheet' set, and other items for the new digs. Guess he's going to be there for awhile. Can't keep track of all the changes in tenants since the big shuffle in the last 2 months. So weird that a bunch moved out and then a bunch moved in. I suspect it's because of the gang members (4 of them) who moved in sometime near January. At least 2 did and then 2 more appeared last month. THEY have been accused of robbing other tenants, threats, and slashing tires. First time I knew they were gang members was when they all were dressed alike with tons of heavy gold jewelry and were 'circling' the area, especially showing off for the teen girls of the guy across the street. Very visible show of look at US. We are here.

So now we watch the Apartments again. Going to be busy watching the empty house AND the Apartments for awhile. Fun stuff. sherlock dance
