The phone call from Arnett's won't come until a little later on. Every time I've played the game, I've had to wait a good long while for that call to get an appointment with Roger Arnett. So just continue on, don't worry about it, it'll happen. Just make sure that you pay attention to the red entries in your journal, see if you can do anything to grey those out. Also revisit all locations inside and outside of the pyramid, and speak to everyone. Dialogue is absolutely critical in this game -- the whole experience is dialogue driven.

According to MaG's strategy guide: Goals or things to do are written in red ink in the diary, once completed they turn to black ink. It sounds like eventually they will all turn to black ink.

Yes, they'll all turn black eventually, but some tasks just can't be completed until much later in the game. Work through what you can in the meantime.

Yes, it could be a typo. If you're following the walkthrough, it sounds as if you next need to search for the impersonator on the census database. So continue from there.

The Hexadecimal editor appears after the File Corrupted result. See several red ? that are needed to be decoded. Based on the reference numbers-letters above the puzzle, find out the number or letter corresponding to the red (?). Start with a group of 4 that has one red question mark first. Click the question mark until they turn blue. Continue on until all the single red question marks set are decoded.
