Downloaded the demo and started to play. I seem to be stuck and I've barely started. I've wandered around, found the "V" shaped gold colored device that when stepped on, fills a tank with water. I cant seem to progress beyond that. Can someone give me a nudge?

macmac, go on the other side of that divice and face the handle.

The handle must be in the precise center of your screen.

Then left click the handle to hold it and push it up.

The water will be drain away.

If I may add: any object you want to use must be in the center of the screen. You just need to place yourself at the proper distance to use it.

Good luck.

EDIT: thanks, MaG. wave

Thanks for being so helpful Chief.. I appreciate that! smile

BTW, I'm working on bringing hand-presence into the game and so that should really improve the interactive mechanics a lot. wink

If I can help out at all please let me know... thanks for playing!

Sorry but I need a little help...I cant seem to get started here. Thanks to Chief for help in emptying water from the tank. I found the staircase and went down, found the 6 devices that can be removed from their present position and moved to a "socket" above or below current position. But I cant figure out the correct position to place the 6 devices. I have a feeling that the 6 "plug-in" objects relate somehow to the 6 monoliths with strange writing but I cant seem to figure out how to proceed. Help, anyone?

macmac, just place the six devices above from where you found them in the orginal position below.

By placing them above and going back to the big lever will get you....

Chief wave

EDIT: I returned to the game and you can't place a device elsewhere from it's original position or above.

As for the stairs, you have to be in proper line to go up, more on the outside than close to the wall.

Return down to the bottom of the tank and try the stairs again.

You could also restart the game. It will take only a few minutes to be back where you are.

Many thanks Chief, I haven't found a way to save games but it will be easy enough just to start over.

macmac, you can't save in this Demo.

But it's a fun one to play and replay.

Chief, could you help an old soldier one more time? I hate being so dense but I think if I can get through the first few puzzles I can make it on my own. I was fine with the Myst series (except for the notorious "spider chair" in 5).
Anyway, I have drained the water, inserted the devices in the correct sockets, revealed the stairwell leading to the "star room", removed the device from (I think) the red protruding light, and now Im stuck again. I cant insert the light device anywhere, I have walked down the orange hallway to the elevator but cant seem go advance from there... can you give be a boost?

Yes I saw that Chief, but I was unable to place the device in the opening. I used both gentle persuasion and brute force. There is such a bright light that accompanies the device that its really hard to see if the device is lined up.

macmac, every time I played the demo, I had the same problem as you do.

It was trial and error until it when in.

Just try to be as square as possible with the opening.

Good luck.

Chief wave

EDIT: replayed that part: try to be as close as possible with the opening in the center of the screen and place the light stick just above the opening. Then click and hold left mouse.

Not an easy task.

Chief, thanks so much for your help. I finally threaded the needle and got it in. I can see now that all of the problems Im having are directly related to the circumstance of not having a hand cursor. I think I'll be OK for the rest of the demo; the advice you gave concerning the center of the screen is the key to everything. I measured the exact center of my monitor screen and stuck a tiny piece of paper at that point and "Viola", a homemade hand cursor! Thanks again Chief

Great that you are moving on and a nice idea for locating the center of the screen. thumbsup
