I found this info on another forum. I've never tried this myself. Start and exit the game over and over (about 4 times) until it comes up with safe mode. In that mode it will give you a large paddle so it's a tiny bit easier to get through.

Family, I'm not 100% sure, because it's been a few years since I've needed the big paddle to win at it, but if I'm remembering right, you have to lose close to 10-12 times. I do, however have a method for winning at the game that does work for me, it's not fool-proof to win the first time, but it is what helps me personally. If you or Marian, or anyone are interested, let me know and I'll share :)
Merry Christmas

Like I mentioned, it's not fool-proof, sometimes it helps me get Barnacle done quickly, sometimes not.
I've noticed round one is usually easiest, since there's only 2 layers of barnacles. I usually start with the paddle all the way to the left. I know you can control the paddle with the mouse or keyboard, but personally I've found using the keyboard is easier. I keep my left hand on the space bar and my right on the arrows.
Prior to beginning, I usually stretch/crack my neck, shoulders and wrists, just for diminishing tension. While playing I try to keep relaxed (I think if you try to rush it, that's when you miss and the falls to the bottom)
Before starting I always make sure I don't need to get up for anything, and get a drink do my throat's moist.
Between rounds, I usually take a break, I think this helps with round two, especially if the game gives you a little bit of trouble.
