Am on Rusty's rooftop and trying to get over to the other roof and behind the air conditioner. Have killed old Tex so many times and resurrected him - feel like God.

Several friends have tried to send me a saved game at this spot but despite their good efforts and my appreciation - the games are either way behind this spot or so far ahead I would miss a good part of the game.

Might anyone have a saved game just after the cinematic scene and where Tex returns to get the item that Dag Horton drops?

Would very much appreciate it if you could send to me. laugh

Hi, desertlilac!

I don't have a saved game, but I do have a suggestion. Hide behind the air conditioner and just peek around the corner so you can see Dag. You may think you're well hidden but, if Dag can see you, you're not :-)! The minute he turns his back on you, make a beeline for him and the game will take over. I don't know how many times I died during that sequence, but James Earl Jones and I became very good friends <VBG>!

Good luck!

Susan

If I remember correctly there is a long cutscene after this action scene and that saving right after will be way off. So your friend might have sent you the closest possible saved games.

You're right - not to miss anything you have to do it yourself. Good luck! smile

I see what you are saying Susie07 and have tried that but still get killed. I thought sure when I was down behind the AC I would have made it but did not get there fast enough I guess.

And MaG I tried using one of the saved games that seemed to be aways after the cut scene but the problem was I needed something in inventory that it did not have. When I was on the roof I had that item but the saved game did not. So I think my friend's game was much much before the roof top scene.

I was hoping there would be a lull so that I could go back to the roof and retrieve that item that Dag Horton drops. None of the saved games I got had that item. Very confusing.

Saved games are not all that easy to send or receive and use I guess.

So if anyone else has any ideas/games will give them a try.

Hi, desertlilac!

It's all in the timing <G>! I just checked the notes I made while playing and, when you're hiding behind the air conditioner (make sure you're crouching), Dag should look in your direction. The minute he turns away, run as fast as you can towards him. After the cut sequence, you can then retrieve the item he dropped.

Good luck!

Susan

With the help of a 9 year old boy visiting me - I made it finally!!!! Discovered that I should be using a couple of other keys on keyboard besides the up and down arrows and that made all the difference!!! I have a saved game now where I am crouched and can take it from there from behind the AC.

HOWEVER! would you believe that after the cut scene my PC hangs up everytime and I can go no further! After all this frustration to encounter this is real a grind!!!! So might try the game on XP to see if it is the disk or my Win 98 that is hanging me up. Have tried everything to get past this point but to no avail.

Soooooooooooo frustrating!!!!!!! after all this work to get the cut scene to activate.

Hi, desertlilac!

Congrats on finally bumping off Dag! I remember the feeling of satisfaction I got after dying so many times :-)!

I played "Pandora" under Win98 and didn't encounter any problems, but haven't replayed under WinXP. Hopefully, it will work for you.

Holler if you need any more help.

Found a patch for Tex M. so will try that - not sure what spot it is for but maybe for this place. Can't understand why my PC is hanging up here. Hopefully this patch will work but if you, Susie, had no problems on your Win98 then I don't know what the problem could be.

Hi, desertlilac!

I was running Windows 3.1 when I first played "Pandora", which means I probably played it under DOS. Then when I bought a new computer in 1998 that came with Win98 preinstalled, I played it again with no problems. I was using an ATI video card, SB sound card and Pentium processor.

Good luck with the patch. Hopefully, it will resolve the problems you're having.

Susie07 - still struggling with Tex. Then my PC went down and my tech telephone walked me into bringing it back up again. A thorough scan disk said there were 8 bad sectors so maybe this is what is hanging me up in Tex. Don't know but have managed to fiddle around enough before the crash to progress to the police dept. and am trying to get a message that will send me to the post office.

Problem I am having is the message wrapper I am to ask about is not in the "ask" list but is in the "object list". Not sure what I missed or did wrong but am hung up there. Am confused because have been following a WT inch by inch due to the tech problems I was having with my PC. Enough stress wrestling with my win98 without having game problems. So unless the WT is wrong can not figure out why I can't get that message where it should be so I can move on.

Any ideas? Hope I have been clear here. Very difficult to try to explain things in writing about PC and game stuff isn't it?

Will appreciate any input you have.By the way the WT I am using is by a George Ison. Could only find one.

Hi, desertlilac!

Are you able to read the number on bottom left side of the wrapper? If not, did you combine your Visual Analysis Apparatus with the wrapper? Once you can read the number, you should be able to ask about it at the police station.

Susie07 - well finally found out what I was missing here. There are two postage meter stamps - one large one which I thought was the one to find and look at up close but there also is the very small meter further on down (sneaky programmers) with a number on it. Soon as I saw it, all fell into place! So for anyone else stuck here be sure to look all the way down on that scrap of paper.

Also my 98 went down and my tech phone walked me through bringing it back up complimented by a scan disk which found 8 bad sectors and corrected same. Since then Tex has run as smoothly as silk! What a pleasure!

Now am stuck again in the morgue trying to look into the file box. The WT I have is from GB site but it not explicit at this point. I have tried every angle possible to look into that consarned little file drawer. Does anyone have any suggestive movements how to do so or a saved game here? I am about to grab old Tex by the throat and push him into the drawer it is so frustrating. smile

Are you using the scalpel to open file G-I? smile

Well, I have the drawer open and it is the G-I drawer so labeled. I followed the WT here and it said to use the scalpel so did that. Just can't get myself in close enough to the drawer even approached from the side to get a handle on the ups and downs and then looking into it. As I said using up/down arrow keys and the D key to look inside. Have had no problems in past in looking in drawers so thought this would be a snap - well let me tell you, I am having more problems here than any other drawer in all these Tex games.

So again if anyone has more explicit directions - will appreciate same.

I vaguely remember there is Shift or CTRL keys used with the arrow keys to look up -down that you might need to use to get high enough to see the inside of the drawer.

Ah ha - have been using arrow keys but with the D key which is supposedly the clue here. However, will now try your suugestion of Shift or CTRL - hate to give up on this spot here.

Keepin' on keepin' on. smile

Try the combination - rise up to see enough of the drawer and then see if you can do the arrow+D to look inside. Good luck! smile

Hey MaG I used the shift key and voila! was able to see right into the drawer and get the object therein. Was a breeze with the right key. The WT was saying to use the D key - no no for anyone else stuck here - use that shift key and move right along.

Sure glad you remembered MaG even though you said it was hazy. Solved and saved the day. Thanks thank thanks:)

Well, stuck again!!! But this time it seems to be a technical issue. I am in the evidence room, have collected everything from the lockers and now have put the puzzle box in the degaussing machine but everytime I try to enter the code - I get thrown to the desktop just about when I am getting some success at it.

So would appreciate a saved game here or if someone knows something I don't know about this situation the info would be helpful.

Finally found a saved game right at the spot I needed. Surely isn't easy to find the exact game out of many - lots of trial and error going on. So thought I was on my way - but need another nudge.

I am at the place where I have opened the puzzle box and done the flightline schedule puzzle (with the help of the WT) could never have done it without and am now talking with Archie Ellis. Finished the conversation but for the life of me so far cannot get the Roswell place to come up on the travel map so I can go there and continue the game. Have looked at your WT on this site and followed all the directions therein, but so far no Roswell. What am I missing now?

Lilac, there is still another walkthrough on Bert Jamin's site -- you might try checking that one to see if you can spot what you've missed...

Well, keepin' on is still getting me nowhere so at this point I can backtrack way way way back or use another saved game which I loathe to do. Don't want to miss any charcterizations.

I have two WTs in front of me and in minimal checking have not found anything yet left undone, uncollected, no one not spoken to, and so here I stand unable to bring up a specified phone conversation or get that Roswell site to show up on the map.

So will quit bothering you with posts and just wander around until "a light comes on" or I decide on a saved game use:(

Will keep checking here in case someone else has reached such an impasse and can give me a tip.
