Congratulations to American Astronaut Shannon Lucid, she now holds the American record for most time in space. Of course, the old record was held by Jerry Garcia."
- Spaceballs (Dark Helmet)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small
tree begins to grow between them. The beech says to the birch:
"Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"
The birch says he cannot tell.
Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says,
"Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech
or a son of a birch?"
The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree and replies:
"It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however, the best
piece of ash I have ever put my pecker in!".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A couple went golfing one day at a very exclusive course lined with million dollar homes.
On the third tee, the husband cautioned, Honey, be careful when you drive. If we break one of those windows, it'll cost us a fortune to repair.
Of course, she immediately shanked her drive right through the window of the biggest house on the course. The husband cringed, I warned you to watch out! Now we'll have to go up there and apologize and see how much that lousy drive is going to cost us.
They walked up, knocked on the door, and a warm voice said, "Come on in". When they opened the door they saw glass all over the place and a broken antique bottle lying on its side near the broken window. A man reclining on the couch asked, Are you the people that broke the window?
Uh yeah, we're very sorry about that, the husband replied.
"Oh, no apology is necessary. Actually I want to thank you. You see, I'm a genie, and I've been trapped in that bottle for a thousand years. Now that you've released me, I'm allowed to grant three wishes. I'll give you each one wish, and I'll keep the last one for myself."
"Wow, that's great!" the husband said. He pondered a moment and blurted out, "I'd like a million dollars a year for the rest of my life."
"No problem," said the genie, "You've got it. I have already put a million dollars in your bank account. It's the least I can do."
"And now you, young lady, what do you want?" the genie asked.
"I'd like to own a gorgeous home complete with servants in every country in the world," she said.
"Consider it done. The deeds are now in your name" the genie said.
"And now," the couple both asked in unison, "what's your wish, genie?"
"Well, since I've been trapped in that bottle and haven't been with a woman in a thousand years, my wish is to be with your wife."
The husband looked at his wife and said, "Gee, honey, you know we both now have a fortune, and all those houses. What do you think?"
She mulled it over for a few moments and said, "You know, you're right. Considering all that, I guess I wouldn't mind."
The genie and the woman went upstairs for the rest of the afternoon. Both satisfied each other repeatedly, and afterwards, the genie rolled over and looked at the wife and asked, "How old are you and your husband?"
"Why, we're both thirty-five," she responded breathlessly.
"You don't say! Thirty-five years old and both of you still believe in genies?"

This guy walks into a bar and ask the bar tender for a drink. He gets his drink and minds his own business and looks up and down the bar. To his amazement, he is stunned to see a 10' pianist on top of the bar. "Hey bartender," he says..."What is that 10' pianist doing on top of your bar?" "Well, you see this lamp?" asks the bartender. "Rub this lamp and you can make a wish, and you will see why I have a 10' pianist on the bar." So the man rubs the lamp and he wishes for a million bucks. All of a sudden, the doors pop open and a million ducks come flying into the bar. "Hey wait a minute!" says the man. "I wished for a million bucks not a million ducks." The bartender looks at him and says..."I didn't want a 10' pianist either."

A famous art collector is walking through the city when he notices a mangy
cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store and he does a
double take. He recognizes that the saucer is extremely old and very
valuable, so he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the cat
for two dollars.
The storeowner replies "I'm sorry, but the cat isn't for sale.
The collector says, "Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch
mice. I'll pay you twenty dollars for that cat."
And the owner says "Sold," and hands over the cat.
The collector continues, "Hey, for the twenty bucks I wonder if you could
throw in that old saucer. The cat's used to eat and it'll save me from
having to get a dish."
And the owner says, "Sorry buddy, but that's my lucky saucer. So far this
week I've sold ninety-eight cats."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The doctor and his wife were having a heated argument at
breakfast.
As he stormed out of the house, the man angrily yelled to his
wife,
"You aren't that good in bed either!"
By midmorning, he decided he'd better make amends and phoned
home. After many rings, his wife, clearly out of breath, answered
the phone.
"What took you so long to answer and why are you panting?"
"I was in bed."
"What in the world are you doing in bed at this hour?"
"Getting a second opinion."
Any Ana news? Hope you are OK.
Yesterdays find at the Thrift Store. A Kelly Girl (temp agency from 1946) 'compact'. At least I thought it was until I opened it and discovered a nicely fitted 'jump-a-peg' game in solid brass. Neat! Can't find any info on the net about what it was for (probably an advertising gimme) but it's very interesting. Triangle shaped base and 15 solid shiny brass pegs. Looks nice in my 'junk' cabinet with all the other strange items. I had no idea Kelly Girl's were still around. Now it's called Kelly Services.
OH NO, my favorite grocery store is going to CLOSE. Haggen chain from the North West just bought up 186 stores of Albertsons, Von's, Safeway, etc., in Calif, AZ and a few other states and will close a lot of them and revamp the bigger ones. Sigh. I love my little Von's. Easy to find stuff, never really crowded, close to home. The nearest Albertsons is 3 blocks farther and I hate it and the prices are terrible. Hope this goes well.
That 'something' is still under my house smelling awful. It's a bit less, but seems to be worse in the morning and evening when the winds dies down and doesn't blow through the vents to send it away. Still boiling vinegar on the stove which does work well. On my 3rd gallon. Wish whatever dragged something in there will drag it back out.
Hey Joe! Send Baby over here. Might taste like chicken..hehehe.
WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.
Awe thanks everybody for all the prayers and lovely thoughts!! I can see.....somewhat today. For the first time in, too many to count, years I could see the time on my alarm clock last night without glasses and only one eye but maybe, just maybe in two weeks, when I have the other eye done, I won't need the glasses at all. yay Came out of the eye doc appointment this morning, bright and early, to SNOW!!! Glad that is over with since we had to take the bridge over the St. Louis River to Duluth and now it is really slippery with the snow. Good timing.
Joe sorry your vacation has been a cold one. Next year take it during warmer times. The wind has had a stinging bite here so Sassy hurries out and right back in. lol Poor thing. Thanks for the laughs and have a lovely day!
Ana prayers continue that this one heal quickly and that you have as complete recovery as possible. Sending gentle HUGS!! How is Merlin doing?? Keeping him in my prayers also!! Have a pain controlled lovely day!
Karen yes I can see better today, thanks. Prayers for Lucy and little hugs! Have fun at the barn today! Have a lovely day!
venus may work go well and hope your cold is soon a thing of the past. Have a lovely day!
Gerry thank you for the hot coffee this morning. Stay warm and have a lovely day!
Oh Connie so sorry that it seems to be taking them so long to fix that washer. Hope they can get it fixed for you today! Thanks for the ldanish and have a lovely day! HUGS!
Gail hope it warms up there for all of you! Poor Nina. I know how Sassy is in the really cold weather. Stay warm and have a lovely day!
Winfrey stay warm and have a lovely day!
Darlene may work go smoothly and you have a lovely day!
Haroula have a lovely kday!
Hi all! Internet has been up and down today so that's a pain because I am back to work but it needs the internet to play.
I am doing great and I thank those that have asked. hearts The pain is nothing compared to the first one and I even slept in bed. I am so glad I went and did it and now I just heal both and get on with my life.
Karen, sending positive thoughts to Lucy.
Thumping Good Thursday ya'll puppy
I've been up for several hours. Got delayed in the kitchen making homemade spaghetti sauce and fresh bread. Sauce simmering and bread on first rise. Lots of up and down the stairs today checking on the bread and stirring the sauce.
It was 17 when I got up....eeek, eeek, and triple eek. But we do have beautiful blue skies and son. Just heard there were snow flurries in AL this morning.
It's cold in the den when the temps get this low. I'm finally in sweats and wrapped in my warm robe, hair out of the pony tail to keep my neck warm (when I'm not in the kitchen). lol Need son to move his ops in here and keep a fire going.
Hubby went back to work this morning. So glad he is feeling better.
I'm listening to a webinar later and then working on the bills in between trips upstairs to attend to the bread and sauce.
Nan, thumbsup So glad you could see the clock last night. I hope the next one is just as successful.
Ana, you don't have a fever, do you?
Connie, how long has your washer been out?
wave to all
Nan, so happy you can see better today! I bet you can't wait for the other to be done.
L4L, glad soot is feeling better. Hope going back to work doesn't set him back. 17 is cold for you!
No fever for me, in fact my temp was 94 after surgery yesterday and they had to keep me until they could get it back up.
Good Thursday afternoon.
Cory had a good nights sleep last night. First off, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers for him. He did have a lipoma and it was pressing against the sciatic nerve in his leg. Dr. doesn't know whether that will take care of the problem but only time will tell. Poor baby, his nice bunny butt is now a mess. Will take a while for his fur to grow out. He definitely would not make it as a show dog. lol Bill brought his bed in to the living room but now he is lying by the front door, taking it easy. Lyric wasn't sure about him last night. At least she left him alone. He is such a trooper.
Temp is up to 21. Heat wave. lol I am ready for spring.
Have a good day everyone and stay warm.
Bets
Posted earlier and hit submit and then the internet down down down. Called, company said they are installing a new power box and should be up shortly -which it was. Great, everybody and cory (especially) is healing up. Let's hope things improve for all.
It was 20 this AM at 9 and that's cold. But on the bright side, if I were "Home" it would have been 2. And that's colder. Post office rum this morning and then straight homedy-home. Where it's warm -you betcha.
There was something else I wanted to post but I can't think of it -darn
I'm in the mood to make something chocolate -maybe tomorrow
Bets, so glad that Cory had a good night. Dogs do seem to bounce back quickly. I hope this fixes his problem.
Yankee, glad your net is back up.
I'm having a very scattered day. As soon as I start one thing, something else yells for my attention. However, on a positive note, the bread and sauce are done. Just have to cook the spaghetti and make up a sald. Dinner shall be yummirrific.
Back to the books!
Evening everybody. wave
Well it never got above minus 40 degrees here today. Needless to say I didn't go anywhere. shame
Now, Baby is mad and not talking to me. puppy
I thought I might be scheduled to work at 6:00 tomorrow, so I called in and told them I'm dead, and won't be back. cool
I'm actually scheduled to be there at 11 to 7, so I'm going in at 10:00 instead. grin
Anyway, I got most of my house work done in my week off. thumbsup
I thought I should leave some of it for my next vacation. wink
I hope you're all well and have a nice evening. yes
Hi all.I have to tell you what happened to me today. I went food shopping about noon and got through line at the check out counter OK but as I was walking to the exit door I notice I didn't have my key ring in my coat pocket so I went to the courtesy booth and asked if anyone turned them in....nope so I got a hold of a manager and she asked me some questions like did I use my Stop and Shop card, yes I said, so she made some phone calls and who ever had access to the tapes of my purchases, looked at the video and found out that the woman standing behind me picked up my keys and put them in her coat pocket. If you use the Stop and Shop card your name and address and phone number are on record but she didn't use her card so they don't know her name. All they have is her taking my keys. So I'm hoping she realizes that the keys weren't hers and returns them to the store. The problem is there are keys on the ring that I need replaced like tomorrow, like my mail box key, my Mobil speed pass key, stuff like that. I can't imagine that she took them on purpose. So I'm hoping she returns them to the store tomorrow. the other thing is that I need a key fob to get in the front door and my apartment keys were on the key ring. The manager called the office where I live and asked it I could get in with their help, she said of course so I was able to bring my groceries up and Daniel, (office girl) let me in and let Robbie ( maintenance) know I needed a duplicate set of apartment keys which he promptly gave me. So that's where I'm at right now. Playing the waiting game. I hate this. It's never happened to me before. I'll have to go to the post office tomorrow and get a duplicate key so I can get my mail.
I'm going to bed. (blah!)
Miidgie hearts
Just do it.
Oh Midge! Losing keys is such a hassle. At least you know which ones are on the ring. My mom used to lose hers a lot and never could remember what was on it. I'd be careful if the Mobil Speed Pass key allows someone to just get gas without ID. I had one and I got rid of it when I found that anyone could just swipe it and get all the gas they wanted. Ugh. Maybe the woman will turn the keys in. Hope so. Some people don't have honest intentions. If you had any ID on the key ring (address, mailbox number), I'd change locks.
