Code:
           S
---------- ---------
       A o

                   o B
                           o C

Cue, if ballA is slightly left of sidepocketS,
and I want to pocket ballB in sidepocketS using
cueballC, both B and C being roughly positioned
as shown, and all shots must be fully called,
then it is easier to call "ballB in the side
pocket, kiss off ballA" ..... agree?

And you'd chalk your cue before shooting, of course... lol

There are different rules for various leagues or areas of play. I play in the VNEA (Valley National 8-Ball Association). Their rules would only require that you name the ball and the pocket that the called ball will fall into. In this case, "B in the side". "Bar" pool, where I cut my teeth, has varying rules from one place to another but generally, all kisses and rails have to be called. In this case it would be "B in the side off of A". However, if the object ball "B" touches the rail on either side of the pocket as it drops, and you didn't call it, it's a fowl and loss of turn.

I think I need some new chalk. The stuff I've been using hasn't been aiming very well lately. lol

Thanks Cue. Love pool.
I mainly play 8-ball also.
Crazy local rule: if your next shot is on the 8,
and you've hooked yourself after sinking your last ball,
then if you don't hit the 8, you lose !

It's good to know the local rules before you start to play. Some bars actually list the area rules but not many. Back in '76, when I was in Buffalo earning a bit of college cash on the tables there, I ran into the same rule. I ran up to the eight but didn't have a shot on it so I just hid the cue ball behind one of the guy's balls so he didn't have an easy shot. He came up to me and shook my hand which I assumed was for the nice shot that I'd just made snookering him on his own ball but in fact he was telling me that I lost because I didn't hit the eight ball! Another version of this rule is giving your opponent ball-in-hand when you don't contact the eight.

Yes; that's what's done when we have tournaments.
Same thing if you don't hit any of your balls.
But we only call the ball and pocket:
if ball drops in called pocket, ok no matter how, flukes included.

Those are roughly our rules too. The reason I like those rules is because there are very few circumstances that could lead to bickering. It's pretty straightforward. Most of our players are nice people who just like the game.
