Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private opinion. What a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate.

HALLMARK CARDS THAT YOU'LL NEVER SEE...

My tire was thumping.... I thought it was flat.... when I looked at the tire.... I noticed your cat... Sorry

You had your bladder removed and you're on the mends.... here's a bouquet of flowers and a box of Depends.

You've announced that you're gay, won't that be a laugh, when they find out you're one, of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Heard your wife left you... How upset you must be... But don't fret about it .... She moved in with me

Your computer is dead... it was once so alive Don't you regret installing Windows 95?

John invited his mother over for dinner. During the meal, his mother couldn't help noticing how attractive and shapely the housekeeper was. Over the course of the evening, she started to wonder if there was more between John and the housekeeper than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, John volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, my relationship with my housekeeper is purely professional."

About a week later, the housekeeper came to John and said, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" John said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll write her a letter just to be sure."

So he sat down and wrote:

"Dear Mother, I'm not saying you 'did' take a gravy ladle from my house, and I'm not saying you 'did not' take a gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner." Several days later, John received a letter back from his mother:

Dear Son, I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep with your housekeeper, and I'm not saying that you 'do not' sleep with your housekeeper. But the fact remains that if you were sleeping in your own bed, you would have found the gravy ladle by now."

Love, Mom.

A blonde and a brunette are running a ranch together in Louisiana. They decide they need a bull to mate with their cows to increase their herd. The brunette takes their life savings of $600 dollars and goes to Texas to buy a bull.

She eventually meets with an old cowboy that will sell her a bull. "It's the only one I got for $599, take it or leave it." She buys the bull and goes to the local telegram office and says, "I'd like to send a telegram to my friend in Louisiana that says: Have found the stud bull for our ranch, bring the trailer."

The man behind the counter tells her, "Telegrams to anywhere in the U.S. are $.75 per word." She thinks about it for a moment and decides. "I'd like to send one word, please." "And what word would that be?" inquires the man.

"Comfortable." replies the brunette.

The man asks, "I'm sorry miss, but how is your friend gonna understand this telegram?"

The brunette replies, "My friend is blonde and reads REAL slow, when she gets this, she will see COM-FOR-DA-BULL."

Adam was walking around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely, so God asked Adam, "What is wrong with you?" Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to. God said he was going to give him a companion and it would be a woman. He said, "This person will cook for you and wash your clothes, she will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear you children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you, and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache, and will freely give you love and compassion whenever needed".

Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?"

God said, "An arm and a leg."

To which Adam replied, "What can I get for just a rib?" The rest is history.

The man gave the lady an angry look and replied, "I don't know". The lady then asked again, "Are they both boys or girls or one of each?" The man looking angrier and replied, "I don't know!" The woman then started to scold the man, "What kind of a father are you?"

The man replied, "I am not their father, I am just a condom salesman and these are 2 complaints that I am taking back to my company!"

Happy Tuesday to all! It's a warmer day today. Nice. AND the dead animal smell under the house is getting better. Now it's down to the 'fish' smell stage and easier to live with. Wost part of it is that the 'thing' is right under the kitchen area and there are holes behind the stove, fridge, and under the sink where pipes come through. Ugh. Makes it a nice conduit for the odor. Another week or two and it will all be over. THEN, I'm going to try to fix it once and for all by blocking the entrance under the house. Gotta be careful though since things live under there, have babies under there, etc. I'll engineer it so if anything is caught it can get out. Hopefully this will work. Tired of smelly stuff.

Neighbor is waiting for yard kid to come. He is so unreliable, but cheap for us to use. Hopefully he will show today since he's missed the last 2 'appointments'. He always has a great excuse. I think his nephew has had about 20 trips to the emergency room for 'choking' on something. He forgets we keep track of his excuses. His latest one is 'I got called into work'. Which now is very funny since he quit or got fired from IKEA after almost 2 years there. He says he's working doing landscaping for his Landlord, who picks him up and drives him about 30 miles from here when he needs him. I am very suspicious of that one. Doesn't sound right in any sense that he QUIT a good job (with medical benefits) to work doing 'stuff' on an occasional basis? He's full of good stories. Nice kid, emotional and learning disabilities, but you can't help liking him and wanting to 'mother' him. Bad background, abandoned by a mom with 6 kids and he was the oldest. She got remarried after his dad died (young) and GAVE this one to relatives. He's been shuttled between homes all his life. Now he's 22 years old and still mentally about 12 or 13 in actions. Sad sad, but we help him a lot with 'life' stuff and how to get along with adults. He's grown so much. Been with neighbor and I since he was 17. HUGE kid now. Looks totally adult. Bad for him when police stop him for wandering at weird hours. Oh well. Life goes on.

Off to boil some vinegar again.

Terrific Tuesday ya'll puppy

Icky, gray day out, and the temps are dropping. Course, they started out at 54 so I really can't complain.

Got up and cleaned the kitchen that I hurt too much to clean last night. Sometimes the guys get it, but they didn't feel all that hot either, and it must have been the cleaning fairies night out. Then attended a webinar, followed by mom feeding and dog feeding.

Later I'll be playing mad scientist again and then we shall see.

Joe, wouldn't you like a clone to do the work while you play?

Doc, glad the arm is better. Puppies are fun, aren't they? How is she doing?

Seagy is doing well. We have a routine check up tomorrow but I think the report will be good. Back is chatty today, but any day I can breathe is a good one.

Haroula, take care, get lots of rest, and drink lots of fluids. Hugs!

Venus, hope you feel better soon.

Gerry, wave

Connie, I hope the umbrella was the only caualty.

Gail, enjoy your walk.

Happy skooshing, Darlene.

Nan, you are amazing. Does Sassy wear booties?

Sorta, good luck with the smell and the kid.

Back later wave

Ana, Per is back at mom's. Told him to use ice when it itched, but I know with chiggers it's easy to scratch in your sleep.

How are you doing? How is this shoulder compared to the other one?

L4L, I hope that Per can refrain from itching. I'm surprised the chiggers were active in the winter.
There is no comparison between the two surgeries, this one is a breeze!

Ah yes Karen. I'm pretty sure the dead thingy isn't a cat. All seem to be accounted for around my yard, including a new 'member' in the past month. He/she comes in from somewhere and eats late at night when nobody else is around. I hear the driveway alarms going off so it's coming across the street or from down the block and not from the back (open empty lots) area. My best guess is a possum (2 are missing of the smaller ones since Christmas) or that sickly raccoon that I chased across the street a month ago. He might have wandered back and gone under the house to die. It's like an elephant graveyard under there. Lots of cats, possums and who knows what critters. This one smells yukky but it will pass. Wish it was Summer as the ants and other 'decomposers' would be more abundant and the smell would go faster. I think it's on the downswing now. Not nearly as bad this morning, not smelling in the bedrooms and only in the laundry, kitchen and on the deck. I know exactly where the 'body' is by the quality of the smell. I've become an expert over 37 years living here. Ugh. Hate the smell, but nature does what it does.

Neighbor lady actually had the yard kid show up BUT had to take him home because her laundry sink started to overflow suddenly. She called her handyman, and he came right over (miracle). She can't handle the kid (who needs constant supervision), and the handyman at the same time. Been a busy day for her. I told her she has to get the emergencies all over with by the end of the month so she can celebrate her 86th birthday in February without all the drama. She laughed.

FOUND at the thrift store: long stemmed glass flowers. Very nice. I have a lot of them all over the house already in various sizes. They are easier to clean and look better than silk, or plastic. Makes a nice arrangement if you have a very pretty vase and no live flowers. So they wanted 10 bucks for ONE last week. This week someone got smart and had bundles of 5 of them for 10 bucks. Much better. I bought them ALL. 25 lovely 18" long glass flowers in 8 or so different styles. Got out a lovely blue/ribbed vase that was hiding and put all of them in it for now. Covers up the heater opening nicely and looks so bright and pretty. I might distribute them differently later, but for now it was a great find at a good price. Neat!

Doc, chiggers are a juvenile form of a mite and they are teensy tiny. They hang out on plants, in grass, in rocks, etc. You almost never see them, but once the itching starts, you know they've been there. It's one of the itchiest and longest lasting bites you can have. They are always in groups so it's not the case of one bite, but instead a very large area will be covered.

I would have thought they'd be dormant, but I would have been wrong, or else the doctor is.

The docs said many years ago there was nothing to be done for my back but to endure. I wish our insurance covered chiros, but such is life. I just know when it yells loudly enough, it's time to stop and drop. lol

Afternoon, Space wave

Time to watch NCIS with hubby happydance
