Hello!
I am in Rome near the Vatican, inside the building, by way of the court yard.
I am stumped on the fireplace puzzle. I have checked several walkthroughs and have followed directions.
I have the stick, with the wet napkins wrapped with string. When I try to clean tile 5 in order to proceed, a message comes up that it (the string?) is too slack. Well, how do you tighten it?
I can take the shovel and push all of the tiles except 5 of course.
I have backed out of the scene and gone back in. Nothing is working.
So, what am I missing?
Thanks for your help!
kdj

kdj,

Is this string labeled "thread" and is taken hanging from the protective cover of the furniture at foreground left?
Is the wet napkin on the wood labeled "napkins tied with a thread to a bough"?

The already assembled stick, napkins, and string is called "napkins tied with thread to a bough"

I am trying to clean the tiles with the bough - not push tiles in with it, but this may be where the slackness comes in - because you have to push tiles with shovel or broom...

Yes - that is correct.
I found an old thread with the same problem. She redid it and it worked the next time.
Try again with that "napkins tied with thread to a bough" on the middle dirtiest one but be sure that you examine the tiles first to see them.
Then use the broom on the on the soot in the fireplace. It might just be a minor hiccup. Keep us posted.

FINALLY! I am through the secret door in the fireplace! Not sure why it was so hard but I just kept repeating the order of the tiles, backing out and going back to the shovel and the tiles. Thanks for your help!!
