By some means or another I ended being a hunter/thief instead of the mage I had intended to be. Easier, I guess.

Anyway, I was wondering exactly how to proceed with choosing a path. At the moment nobody is actually mad at me, though two Orc villages are mighty suspicious about all that stuff that vanished, and then there was that mysterious disappearance of a shaman...

Is it best to do all of the village quests in the three main areas of the game (including the desert and the North)before starting to pillage and burn the Orc villages? Or can I liberate the villages in that part of the game first and then proceed to the North and to the desert?

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I haven't played this, but if you are a completionist, I'd do the villages first luck

I'm not much help, since I played the game so long ago. I did stay in Myrtana (the central area) early in the game and liberated the largest city there (Montera?), which was fun. I don't remember liberating any more, though there may have been one. I think I did the southern desert area last.

If you are looking for a good map, this one works well.

Oh well, I'm having fun just cruising around and gaining levels. Not a bad game, all in all.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I did start this, hagatha, but then located an "original" Gothic 3 and decided to play that instead grin

But I would have expected the enhanced version to follow the same type of plot as the original.
Does it not ??

I think the Enhanced version is just Gothic 3 but more stable and fewer bugs. It seems very stable, with no crashes, and I haven't noticed any bugs. I tried playing the vanilla version when it first came out and my computer couldn't handle it at all.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

What's a "Vanilla" version ?? think

When Rowan was posting (in my old thread) she mentioned that she encountered a game stopping bug in the enhanced Gothic 3 but was able to complete the original Gothic 3.

I didn't encounter any bugs in the bit of the enhanced G3 I played and haven't in any of the original G3 I'm still playing (now and then) so far.

Anyway, I hope you are enjoying yourself !!!! thumbsup

Mad, "vanilla" usually refers to the original offering. wave

If you destroy more then one village or two {to be safe I would say one} all the orcs everywhere will try to kill you. It's a big problem, as it takes a while to be strong enough for that!!! That is, if you work for rebels!!
You make some much money and learning points in this game that you can end up as a mage after a while, if you want. They are so powerful!!

ARGH! I should know better by now...not FIVE minutes after I posted that the game was running flawlessly, I started to encounter non-stop CTD's and had to give up. hardwall

I may uninstall the game and reinstall to see if that helps, because I'm unwilling to give up on my level 50 character. He was only just starting to be a real holy terror with his bow and sharp arrows.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yes, it stinks, but I'm consoling myself by starting a game of Dishonored. It's pretty good, though it does have a tendency to lead you by the hand. I especially like the roaming herds of man-eating rats....

Anyway, hopefully the "roaming herds of man-eating rats" will be of some consolation !! laugh

EDIT :

Dishonored is ample compensation for not being able to finish Gothic 3. In fact, it's giving me that Thiefy/Deus Exy feeling.

Yeah! Mayhem!

Only...you get punished if you let the swarms of rats eat people, so I guess for my first game I'll tread the Path of Light. Sneaksie-like.
