Like many before me I am stuck trying to get by Marty and the dog to the office building in Bromsby Cementworks. I have reviewed many hints and maps, but I cannot get Holmes to the wheelbarrow or the door without being seen. For some reason he gets stuck next to the long shed and my mouse will not advance him until too late.

Could someone please send me a saved game after entering the office building as well as another saved game after entering the warehouse in the next sequence.

I am using windows 7.

Thank you MaG

I mentioned that I am using Windows 7. What I did not indicate is that I purchased this game through Steam, and yesterday I searched high and low on my C drive and was unable to find any saved games for Secret of the Silver Earing.

Any suggestions?

wicknext,

Be sure that you have ticked on - the "see Hidden Files" in the folders first.

Then look for the saved game folder in:
C:\Users\your Computer's name\AppData\Roaming\frogwares

If not there - check MY Documents folder and then Games and see if it is in there.

luck
Keep us posted.

MaG

I finally located the save file.

For Windows 7 and for a game purchased through Steam, it is in Program Files(x86),Steam,steamapps,common,Sherlock Holmes The Secret of the Silver Earing, save

In my frustration looking for the saves, I actually made it past Marty and the dog into the office building. Now I am trying, unsuccessfully so far,to get into the warehouse.

I will keep trying for a while, but in the meantime could you please send me a save for after entering the warehouse just in case?

I'm back.

As with others, I am stuck with the bucket and the fire/smoke. I have tried time and again, but I can only get as close as standing before the smoke with a water filled bucket and still not make it through. Again it has to do with my mouse which seems to "freeze" so then I need multiple clicks to get Sherlock running again wasting time and hence am unable to beat the clock.

Could you please send me a save game after the bucket of water has been used on the fire.

Yes, this is a rotten timed puzzle where movement is made incredibly difficult by Holmes sometimes not moving at all when left-clicking, and confusing switching camera angles. Sending the save to you now.
