I'm trying to combine the two torn pieces of the snavig scroll. The walkthrough says to go to the mirror image of the wizard's room and combine the scroll pieces, but it isn't working. The game instructions said that I could combine things by examining one of them under the magnifying glass and then click the other item on it. It doesn't work.

What to do?

Melia -- As I recall, the place they combine is under the magnifying glass. But they won't combine unless the letters are facing the correct way.

If you're in the "backwards" room and they won't combine, you could try walking back into the main room and then seeing if they'll combine there.

I've tried both rooms without success. Any thoughts?

The only idea I have left would be to put one of the scrolls on the window ledge in the bedroom (I'm pretty sure it goes on the window ledge in the "backwards" bedroom) --and then go outside and use the snapdragon on the mushroom plant and hit it again (I think with the hammer) so that the snapdragon brings the piece of the spell back to you. I THINK this will reverse this part of the spell.

Then try combining it again both in the "backwards" bedroom and in the regular bedroom.

luck

Melia, I just did it again so here's the way I did it.
Click to reveal..
First, you have to put the snapdragon on the mushroom that's on springs and bonk the mushroom so the snapdragon will bounce up to the window and grab the first part of the spell. If you look at it on the 'papercutter', the half scroll is backwards.

Then you go in the house and take the other half of the scroll from Dalboz' bedroom windowsill. That half of the scroll is also backwards. Then you go into the mirror and put both halves of the scroll on the papercutter thingie with the magnifying glass. The spell will right itself and Dalboz will tell you that you've got the spell but you can't gnusto it until you run it through a spellchecker.

I didn't know if I should spoiler that or not so I did it anyway. <g>

Gil.

Becky and Traveler, it worked! I put both of the spell scrolls back on the window ledge, went back outside to get the snapdragon to jump and I then retrieved the papers and put them together in the backwards room! It wouldn't work before because I'd skipped the steps. I had the scrolls but didn't do the snapdragon thing to get one of them I'd just gone into the backwards room and picked it up.

It's a fun game, but not very intuitive. I have to use the walkthrough too much.

Oh, well, intuition isn't everything. grin And it is such a fun game so I'm glad you got going again, Melia. Now go spellcheck that scroll so you can gnusto it! (I do love that word.)

That's great that you're going again. I like the choir that sings the names of the spells when you click on them. wave

Having trouble again. I have the spell that I got through the time tunnel, am back at the white house trying to pull off the boards. They won't pull off. What do I do?

Never mind. I figured it out. Thanks.

Just finished. This was by far the best of the Zork games. So much fun and such humor!

It is a great game, isn't it? I hope you tried all the crazy ways of dying or being totemized, Melia. That's half the fun!
