I'm playing an old game published by Nemopolis in 2008 called "The Vulture: An Investigation in Paris Under Napoleonic Rule", and I'm stuck on a puzzle in Les Invalides, where you have to locate a captured Prussian sword that is hidden there. The puzzle is a 12-letter scrambled word puzzle that will tell you where the sword is hidden. The letters are: "C", "A", "L", "C", "E", "S", "O", "N", "S", "P", "L", "R". The letters are in a circle and you must click on them one-at-a-time, and they move to the center of the puzzle where you spell out the clue. There is no walkthrough for this game anywhere that I could find, and there are no hints for the puzzle. Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to finish the game. (Hope I posted this in the correct place, and thanks in advance.)

I am not familiar with this game. It might not have been released in English or if so - not world wide.

It is available in English from Amazon.com, but the Nemopolis company website is mostly in French, with some English descriptions of their games, but no hints or walkthroughs are posted there.

Thanks for the information. I'll e-mail Akella's website and see if anyone there can help me. I've never heard of them, but maybe they will be able to do something.

Thanks, Call1e

I never got any help from Akella, but I did find a review of the game in German (which I can't read). It is here: http://www.adventure-archiv.com/t/vulturereviewd.htm and if you look on the right-hand side of the page, and go down to the 14th picture, you will see the puzzle I'm stuck on. You have to click on each letter one-at-a-time, and it appears in the middle of the circle. If anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks,
Call1e

Haven't run across a prison as of yet. During the French Revolution many aristocrats were put into La Force prison (like Charles Darnay in "A TALE OF TWO CITIES"), however, there isn't an "F" in the puzzle. Thanks for the hint though, and I'll give it a try anyway.

Got it!!! Had a brainstorm and used one of those online anagram solver websites, and changed the "L"'s to "I"'s like you said. Thanks for all your help, MaG! Will try and finish the game now.

MaG, your last post to me didn't come through. The screen is blank and I can't see what you replied to me. Thanks, Call1e.

Hi Call1e,

MaG's post above is just a congratulatory "bravo" smiley, for your having solved the puzzle. smile

I solved the earlier puzzle but now I need help on a different puzzle. It is a rebus puzzle with two words:
the first word is a picture of a black spade (like the playing card suit) and a pushchair (like a baby carriage or stroller). I know the "pushchair" is correct because the computer made a signal noise to indicate the word is correct. I just need to know what word the picture of a black spade would combine with a "pushchair" to form. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Call1e

Call1e,

Maybe if you can upload a picture of it in your own photo sharing site - we can look at it.

Maybe our rebus experts can solve it without a picture though.

I really can't do a picture because I can't copy and paste the rebus from the game. I posted the last picture from a website that was in German and had the puzzle pictured on the webpage. The rebus isn't there on the website, so I just had to go with the description of the puzzle that I posted.

Is there anything strange in the size of the pictures or the distance or the color?

The best I can do is to post a picture of a spade at this link:

http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608001824004769934&pid=15.1&w=110&h=114&p=0

Right next to it with no symbols is a picture of an old-fashioned pushchair (baby carriage) here:

http://www.dreamstime.com/royalty-free-stock-image-baby-coach-image18896416

After the baby carriage picture it has (-hchair)

Under the spade picture on the game is a blank box which I need the answer to. Under the baby carriage picture I have typed in the word "pus" in the box, which is correct because the computer made a sound to let me know the answer is correct.

I just need to know what the spade picture is. I've tried "spade", "ace", "shovel", "black spade" and none are correct.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thanks,
Call1e

Thanks, MaG. I will post over there. Am still looking on the web for clues, also.

Thanks for the input from everybody. I was gone for a couple of days and only just saw the posts tonight. I have solved the puzzle, thanks to a walkthrough of the game that I found on a Russian webpage, which I then translated into English using an online webpage translator site. The symbol for the spade was "pike". I thought you had to use your imagination a little to get a pike out of a picture of a spade. Sondi and CanukDenis on the Garden thread were correct about the answer being "Picpus". That's the part of the game I'm in now, and hope to finish playing it this weekend. I really appreciate everybody's help!
