I have gotten to the end of the maze but cannot retrieve the mask. Apparently I've not done something, any idea what I'm missing?

I'm not sure, Terri. So, when you enter the mouth, you are unable to take the mask? Do you have a saved game where you can restart the maze? I am not sure what you have missed, and the walkthroughs I have looked at don't offer any explanation as to why you might not be able to take it.

Maybe someone else will know more. wave

I should have phrased this differently. I cannot enter the mouth, it won't let me, so therefore can't get the mask.

Before you arrived at the mouth, did you pull down a lever on the wall? Did you also climb up a stair and pull a lever on the floor?

I pulled a lever on the outside of the round brick turret on the building in the maze and then when I got to the entrance of the round turret, I pulled on a lever on the floor that kept the gate from closing. When I try to walk into the mouth nothing happens and nothing is said.

I'm thinking that the tongue you walk on to the entrance is supposed to be bright orange. It's not.

Why don't you take a look at the UHS hints here. Maybe that will help you figure out what you might have missed. wave

Ok, thanks Marian. wave
As far as I can tell I have done all things listed. I think I'm going to quit because Max aka Olmec (the statue) is giving me fits. I try to get him to walk one way and being rather stubborn he's going to continue going up an down the stairs. So tomorrow my be a better time for both he and I. Oh yeah, your right, it's a pretty good game.

Thanks,
Terri

Hi Terri,

Sanitarium, a buy from GOG Summer Sale perhaps? wink

I bought mine there and finished "The Maze" just yesterday after a three night struggle. But my aching point was the control board. I tried every combination with those three round buttons and found on quite early phase the combination that lit the square on the right. I tried every combination and travelled to the stone statue to pull his arm but it never changed anything. What I never realised was that the square was also a button to push when lit. After three nights I gave up and took a peek at the walkthrough.

But what it comes to your problem entering the mouth, I believe you just have to enter it at the right spot. Try a little bit left or right every time and finally you'll succeed. I first thought I could not enter but after couple of insistent tries I got there. I wish you luck with your try today with fresh mind and fingers! smile

I like the game very much, so refreshingly odd and not like anything else I have played so far. But sometimes it can be quite pixel hunting, for example the needle on the counter in "The Circus of Fools". Or then you look so keen for some solution that you just can't see it's not the right one to progress. For example in "The Innocent Abandoned" I was so keen looking for the container to put the gasoline in that I noticed the bucket (which could not be used) beside the angel statue but not the shovel to dig Carol up and get the key to the storage and get the jerry can.

Timo

I used my last save, went into the mouth and had no problem. Yep the game is a bit glitchy. Have no idea what the next area is but got across the thorn bridge, went across the spider web and got stuck, he would not move. Occasionally he would make a remark but could not get him to budge so had to shut the game down. Guess I'll go back into the game later to see what's next.
Timo, yes I got the game on GOG and it is definitely different but thus far have enjoyed it, even though it is a bit stressful for me when I can't get Max going in the right direction or when the game freezes. Thanks to all for your input on the game. Hopefully I can continue the game with no problems.

I believe I am at the end but may not be able to finish it. I get too stressed and my arms are shaking, there is something about that puzzle that I find unbearable and it's putting me in a very bad mood! sick
Thanks for the help. Next game..............

The end game drove a lot of people nuts. You can always watch the end of the game here, if you have had enough. smile

I decided to give it a second go and for some reason I made it! I wasn't as stressed as the first time because I knew what I was in for. wave

You can't say this game isn't unique.
If you watch the credits, they reference "5D Art".
Anyone know what that is?

Don't know if this should be posted here but after playing the game I have had terrible problems with my thumb. I have problems using it and a lot of discomfort since I finished the game. I can only relate it to the almost constant pressure on the mouse during game play. Anyone else ever have a problem with this type issue? Hope it gets back t normal soon!

I remember that the first time I played Black Mirror, I suffered "gamer's elbow". woozy Leaning on my left elbow for hours on end as I played, caused it to swell up. The swelling went down eventually!

I believe it was the fact that you had to control your characters movement with the right mouse. The constant grip must have caused a problem for me. If it's no better in another month or two I will have to get it checked since I am right handed and it's difficult and painful to grip things.
Thanks,
Terri wave
