This isn't a glitch. I just
need to know if there's a
solution to this problem:

I've used all six saves in
this game. This resulted in
only 15 or 20 seconds remain-
ing in each slot, which isn't
long enough to continue playing
from any save.

Are additional saves possible
at all? If I need to start
over, I will. It's just that
I'm on the last level now.

What do you think?

Hi aser,

I do not understand what you mean by having only 15 or 20 seconds remaining in each slot. Are you playing a timed puzzle? If so, you do have to start from the beginning of that puzzle.

If you'll refer to Alfoil's post
under Julia, this forum, of yes-
terday at 3:28 p.m., she says she's
tried going back further with her
saves, with no luck. At 7:24 p.m.,
same day, she asked if it's possi-
ble to delete some of her saves
without having to restart the game.

You answered by saying she can over-
write or delete her saves.

This is what I've been trying to
explain, MaG! I don't have enough
time in any of my saves to go forward! hardwall

Does the option of overwriting or
deleting a save need to be included
in a game before you can do either
one? If so, than I'm lost because
there is no such option on my menu
screen.

Thanks, MaG.

Aser I think you can delete a saved game by highlighting it, then click the delete key on your keyboard to remove it. If you want to write over a saved game just choose the slot where you have a save and it will ask you if you want to write over the previous save. Just click yes. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Gerry.

Hi aser, I combined your two threads for this game. smile It sounds as if you're playing a timed puzzle and have used up all your save slots on this puzzle with very little time left to complete it, and therefore impossible to go back to a save prior to the puzzle.

There's no way out of that, other than somehow miraculously managing to complete the puzzle, or installing another's save game file at a point before the timed nonsense, or (and this is the worst case scenario) starting the game over.

There are a whole heap of saved games here:

Mystery of the Mummy saves

Try one that's closest to where you are. Any problems with installing, just shout. luck

Gerry- oops
I'm unable to highlight any save in this
game, therefore, I'm unable to delete.

When I place my cursor over a slot, a box
appears asking whether I want to load this
save or quit -- no language anywhere asking
if I want to overwrite. This option doesn't
seem to be available in this game.

I do appreciate your help, though, Gerry,
thanks!

And Rushes, thanks for the link; however,
I've never installed a save and have no
idea how it's done!

I'm on the last level and the puzzle is timed.
I thought I had mentioned this early on, but
perhaps I didn't. This is why I've not been
able to finish the game.

I think had I not referred to Alfoil's post
the other day, I never would have gotten my
point across, much less a response.

I feel browbeaten by this game!

Thank you, Rushes.

AserID send Rushes a pm so he can give you instructions on how to download and install a saved game. Good Luck!

We did respond to your initial question, aser -- MaG asked a question to be clarified. Your first post didn't specifically mention a timed puzzle.

If this is the Nonogram puzzle, then there *is* a bypass that you could try: click several times in the upper right corner of the screen. That is, not the puzzle itself, but the full game screen. With any luck, the puzzle should then solve.

If it doesn't, and if you want to try a saved game from the link I provided, here's how to do it:

1. Choose which of the numbered save files is closest to where you are in the game.

2. Right-click on the diskette icon to the right of that, and select "Save Link As". Direct the file to your Desktop for easy access.

3. Double-click on the zip file which has now appeared on your Desktop, and extract the two files from there with the "sav" and "tga" extensions.

4. Locate your existing save folder for the game (this might vary depending on your OS. XP for example is at C:\TMOTM\data\). If it isn't in Documents, then run a search for "TMOTM" or "Mummy". Then see your save folder with all your current saves for the game.

5. Place the new files into that folder and accept to overwrite your existing save slot of that number.

6. Exit all folders, start up your game as usual and load the new save from the overwritten slot in your load screen.

luck

Thanks for the information -- you've been
more help than you know.

Incidentally, when I stated I was on the
last level, with a few seconds remaining
in each slot, and no way to proceed, I
apparently didn't think it was necessary
to say the puzzle is timed.

I'm fully aware that when one is unsuccessful
in a game, going back to the beginning of a
save is necessary. I know the difference.
That wasn't the case here.

Nevertheless, reading Alfoil's posts and the
responses thereto made me even more anxious.
Her puzzle, evidently, was timed and I'm happy
she received the help she needed.

I'm not trying to be difficult, Rushes; I just
want to play games.

thanks again

Please clarify your statement about
there being a "bypass" and that "the
puzzle should then solve."

If I'm not mistaken, I'm only minutes
away from finishing the game. Where
would I "bypass" to?

I'm trying to solve the puzzle myself
and bypassing it wouldn't work. Would
you please clarify, Rushes?

Thanks.

Aser,

Now that we have clarified that the puzzle you are asking about is timed - can you please tell us which timed puzzle you are doing? There are several close to the end of the game.

These info really helps us understand where you are and what might be the problem. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me!

I don't know the name of this puzzle, but
all of this is happening on the last level.

I'm in a room with an open sarcophagus on
the floor. Since there isn't enough light,
I light the sarcophagus with my lamp, which
takes me to the storage room with standing
urns. As I turn to my right, a much smaller
room is seen, leading into this same storage
area.

Clicking on this small room takes me to a cut
scene that begins with Sherlock approaching
the room, saying: "Here is the infernal bomb."
He enters the room and on a wall discovers a
mechanical device for a bomb. He stands there
looking at it, and then the cut scene ends.

Right after the cut scene and seconds into the
next puzzle, my game cuts off!

This is as far as I can go. The save from
which I'm now playing has all of the items
needed for the next puzzle. The last five
saves (there are six) do not contain all of
the items and do not hold enough time for me
to go back and gather them all.

I hope I've provided enough info, MaG.
Thanks! flowers

Any news on my game? woozy

I tried the saves Rushes sent me,
but couldn't make them work. After
downloading a save, I would began
playing and the screen would shake
and blink intermittently!

Do you think, perhaps, I should un-
install the game? I can go back to
it some months from now and start
from the beginning. Then I can be a
little more careful with my saves!

I'll do whatever you say, MaG! What
do you think?

Aser,

It might be better to go back to an old saved game (of your own) that you already played before this puzzle.
No need to start over.
Then now you know what to do with this puzzle and can go smoothly.
Keep us posted.
