"The church is locked!" I am getting rather annoyed hearing that phrase from Samuel. I did a search on this message board to see if anyone else had this problem. I do seem to have done everything. The letter is put together and Samuel reads it when I click on it. There is one small piece under the upper right corner that is missing, but I figured that wasn't the problem, since he read it. I have gotten Mark to make the key and have opened the garbage bin. I have found the diamond and put the pieces of the strange object together. NOw I am wandering around killing time and revisiting the church only to find it locked every time. The Gravedigger is at the pub but won't talk. Does anyone have any ideas what I missed and why I can't get into the church? Thanks. <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

This is a far-out chance, Erinus, but you are trying to open the side door of the church, not the front one?

If Samuel read the letter, then it's put together correctly--there is supposed to be a small piece missing. Did you right click on the black rook and use it on the clothes you took from the garbage bin? There is one more thing to be put in the strange object--that might be what's holding you up.

If none of this works, you can send me a saved game and I'll try to see if I can figure out what's going on...

Also check, if the label of the 'torn pieces' have changed to 'letter from R' - even if Samuel reads it, the game might not recognize it. smile

Yes. I am trying to open the side door. My cursor does not turn red at the front door, so it is not accessible at all. I did get the diamond from the clothes and put it in the strange object (all the parts have clicked together perfectly, according to Samuel). The letter is "letter from R". I am stymied. Is it a pixel hunt at the front door?

I can't tell you what you may have missed but I CAN tell you it is NOT a pixel hunt that is the problem. The Front Door (left screen) is never going to be available, only the side one. I no longer have the game available so can't access it to check it out for you. I never did figure out what tripped some of the accesses, etc., because I did everything twice and thrice, it seemed, sometimes. laugh

I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!

I just thought of something. I went back to Doc Herman and he finally had the pictures ready for me. I didn't think he ever would because I must have asked him a dozen times. Well, that was the thing that kept me out of the church. I just got in. Thanks for helping me.
