Oh, dear. I didn't have that problem. What version of the game do you have? Are you playing in in OS9 or in X in classic mode?

Edit: The read me file says to make sure you quit the Simple Text application before launching the game because Simple Text will prevent the game CD from ejecting.

Edit 2: In Linda Shaw's walkthrough, she recommends not opening the compass when you first get it because it causes a general fault error later in the game. (This may have been fixed with patches. Her walkthrough was written in 1999.)

I opened the compass early in the game without problems later on.

General protection faults are errors on Windows.

Well done Lady K! Yes Macs prevent ejects if files on the device to be ejected are in use.

So, Lady Kestrel...read your comments and enthusiasm re this game (even bought a copy) for my ibook, and to started to play, but the Birdman will not let me into the workroom; I throw stones at him and at the lever, but the cursor doesnt give a forward arrow, and the grate closes -- now what's wrong?
(p.s. white or dark, belgian or swiss?)

First things first. I'll take dark Swiss chocolate, please. wink

The Birdman workroom puzzle is tough. You have a split second after hitting him and the lever to find the seemingly single pixel that turns into an arrow. It took me about 18 tries to find it. It was a relief when I did. I think I heard that others had the same problem with this.

(BTW, when you get into the room, lock the window.)
