Hey T.H. I am following your walkthrough and it is VERY GOOD! I, as usual, am stuck and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong....I am in Chapter 3,have saved Mr. Jordan and have entered the office. I have tried several times to shut the blinds (put them down to make room dark) and cannot do anything near that window but open the door, then I go through the door even tho it appears to be closed, and when in the back room I cannot see the movies because the blind is up and the room has too much sunlight. When I stand in front of the window, I get no Action cursor only the Open door cursor, just where am I supposed to stand, how do I activate or get the ACTION cursor please? Since the other blind is already down, I must be at the right window, right? Thanks
Love, Betty Lou

NEVERMIND! I went back and looked over the room again, and your designation of "window shade" threw me a bit because I could not lower the window blinds to stop the sunlight from coming in....so then I walked toward that other room door and saw a MOVIE SCREEN hanging there and pulled it down - now realizing that is what you meant, not window shade. On my way now with a box of popcorn and diet soda to watch 3 movies..... lol

I wish I could say that I have solved my problem with picking up that confession in the candle box in the church, but I cannot get past it. When I click on the note the game freezes up on me and the cursor disappears - nothing is working to get me "back on track". I hope you or someone else has a saved game for this part....I've replayed from the Manor to here just to be sure I did everything and one thing on the good side is that when I started having trouble with Constance floating in that stairwell when I shot her, and the dialogue when reading those letters etc was very bad, well replaying it solved the dialogue anyway, but Constance is still floating up there.....very strange scene! Anyway, I need a saved game please....

Betty-

Would you let me know if this game is a point and click, almost bought it today, and then saw your post, thought I would wait for your answer?

Thanks

Aw shucks! I can't help, because I don't' have the game anymore. It's one of the few times I loaned out a game, and he moved away and I can't find him. Hopefully someone else will have a saved game for you.

Margo, yes it is point and click.

Betty Lou,
Have you tried continuing the game without clicking on the note?
I think the same thing happened to me and if I remember correctly I played the rest of the game without clicking on the note.

Maggie, you use the keyboard to move the character around and for actions such as look at, pick up, etc. You use the mouse to 'read' a note or whatever, but basically it is keyboard controls.
Lind, I am going to replay from the Manor to the church etc and skip that note - glad to hear someone else had a problem with this and got around it and THANKS for the tip. I will be back later with my results or to <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" /> on your shoulder.
Love, Betty Lou
P.S. Tally Ho, you can get another copy (if you want it) from Amazon.com either new or used - I paid $2.25 for my copy + shipping when I ordered a cheap copy (used) of Uncle Alberts Magical Album, Amazon being the only place I found Uncle Albert at all.

Well, I got a good question for you - Tally Ho are you here? - I am in the kitchen trying to make that apple crumble and the recipe calls for sugar or brown sugar - I have gone back over every page of the walkthrough to here and cannot find out where I should have picked up sugar.....any ideas? I don't find any in the kitchen either. And by the way, just what IS AnDia? Cannot see the box close enough or clearly enough to learn this tidbit.....is it a brand of sugar? - waiting to make and taste this little dish, must be like the old fashioned Brown Betty.
I am also having trouble putting the lemon slice/drops into the frying pan, what's up with that?
Love, Betty Lou

Hey Betty Lou -- until Tally Ho comes along --

I'm afraid I can't be all that much help because the saves on my game are corrupted, so I can't go back and play it.

Anyway, I have a hazy recollection that the sugar is in the cellar. You might want to go back and look there a bit more carefully.

As for the lemons -- I had trouble with them too. I think I just clicked repeatedly, moving the cursor slightly, until they finally went in. I also have a hazy recollection that there was one place where the order of the ingredients was different than in the recipe.

I think AnDia is the drug company name, or possibly the name of the drug that some of these people worked to develop and have made a fortune selling.

I'mmmmmmm baaaaaaaaaaack! Ran into some trouble with this game, my computer and 'freeze-ups'. So I switched to hubbys computer, installed the game, played it up to the kitchen cooking lesson (now). The difficult I am running into on his computer is the game is freezing up on me a lot, so I have to find a way to shut it down or pull the plug, then reboot etc and get back to my last save - needless to say I am saving a lot so I don't have to replay same scenes so many times. I am also experimenting with different graphic hardward settings to see if I can cure this problem. Am about to try it again on my computer, if I can only figure out where I am there. I do remember that before all this trouble started I was on my computer making that Apple Crumble and started out with LEMONS in my inventory, somehow they have disappeared on me and so I am in the process of retyping the walkthrough to see where I got them from and guess what, I don't see any mention of where to get them there - Tally Ho, just where did I get them? And they are not in my inventory either so where do I find them? Next question - when my puter froze on me I was attempting to put the lemon slices/juice in a frying pan and had a great deal of difficulty, then I lost them. Anyway that is where I am now and I will be back later or in a day or two to update on my progress. Despite my difficulties and frustration I DO LIKE THIS GAME - I seem to recall having problems with another Arxel Tribe game and cannot figure out what computer hardware they were using when they made the game that my computer does not like! Oh, well, that's life, I guess.
Love, Betty Lou

I need clarification here of the instructions in the walkthrough so this may be a long one.....
"Go to the kitchen. Stop at the Fridge, in case you did not take the butter before. Go near the stove. Now, this part gets really cranky. It's far easier to make real apple crumble in your own kitchen than to do it this way. Look at the cupboard to the right of the oven. Take the large spoon and the bowl, which goes on the counter. Remember, Right-Click accesses your PDA. Anytime you need to review the recipe, Right-Click, and select Recipe Ingredients, and the recipe itself is at the top of the list. Now, select Recipe Ingredients; Apples, then select knife to slice them. Then select Recipe Ingredients; Lemon, and select knife to slice it. Then at the bowl, select Recipe Ingredients; Apples. They drop into the bowl. Then select Recipe Ingredients, Lemon slices (it squeezes a lemon, not drops slices). Put them in the Fry-pan to cook."
I read this as this way:
1.LOOK at cupboard by stove/oven
2.TAKE large spoon (goes into inventory) and bowl (goes onto countertop)
3.PDA, select recipe ingredients
4.PDA, select APPLES
5.PDA, select knife and they get sliced into inv.
6.PDA, select recipe ingredients
7.PDA select LEMON
8.PDA, select knife for lemon slices
9.(PDA is closed) Zoom in on bowl on counter
10.PDA, select Recipe Ingredients, then APPLE SLICES they drop into bowl
11.PDA, select Recipe Ingredients, then LEMON SLICES (will get you lemon juice not slices)
12.Put them into FRY PAN
HOLD IT! Where is that fry pan, in the cupboard to be left there, to be removed to stove top, or do I pick it up to my inventory? How do I put lemon into the fry pan with sugar and cinnamon to fry them up? Why would I? How did you do it? I am able to put all the ingredients into the bowl and stir them (I guess, since I don't SEE it happen but I select the spoon and use it on the bowl) but cannot get lemon anything into a fry pan, nor can I now get the ingredients in the bowl into the cake pan I am taking out of the oven, SO WHAT NOW please?
Love, Betty Lou

I am a good cook - have been doing it for over 45 years - I have never had such strange goings on over baking an Apple Crisp or Brown Betty - this is one mixed up recipe and reactions - now I have the fry pan on the stove, have added all the ingredients into the bowl and cannot put them into the fry pan, but wait, don't blink, look in fry pan again and without opening oven, putting cake pan with batter in, closing oven door, turning on oven = VOILA I have a baked A.C. at least that is what it looks like. Cannot pick it up, am I supposed to spoon it into a bowl or onto a plate to serve to Alicia? or what? HELP! Now I am afraid to get out of the game and do something else for a while cause I might lose the whole thing and I haven't a clue how it came about or what I did to get this to occur....

Now, I have to wash this sticky flour out of my hair and I just shampooed it an hour ago.... laugh

Betty Lou -- you are cracking me up!!!What a time over the Apple Crisp. I found it very frustrating too, though I am MUCH less talented as a cook than you are.

As I was blundering about trying to cook the thing, I kept wondering: after all this girl's been through, wouldn't a sandwich and a little something from the liquor cabinet be GOOD ENOUGH? Why does she have to have APPLE CRISP?????

Where are you now? Did you manage to give away the AC?

(Just one possible hint -- have you figured out that when you have lots of items in inventory in the PDA, that you can hold down the arrow and scroll so as to see more items?)

Hi Becky, I wanted to get that AC baked while I rested up a bit watching TV and wouldn't you know it our cable went out for about an hour and I sat watching a scratchy TV screen with the sound muted and the telephone up to my ear on 'hold' with the cable company - I hung up the phone as soon as the TV came back to normal and finished watching my movie "Unbreakable". Now, back to this AC or BB (brown betty) - I got tired of waiting, no offense Tally but you must have been out somewhere 'playing' - so I did a SEARCH (up above under Post A Reply) for this game and found the 'link' to UHS (see Jan 18 2004 thread) which Jenny provided, and it had the EXACT way to make this tasty dish - Now I should try it in real life and see if it really is that tasty - now I will be off to offer it to Alicia. I thought it would have been better for her to open a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup or Progresso or something and heat it up since she wanted something 'hot'. A little of that 20 year old Brandy would have been good too since she was in that cold swamp water for who knows how long...but then "what do I know?" Off now to give her some of this dish. I figure if I can LAUGH over this frustrating cooking experience, maybe I will continue to enjoy this game. haha

It's on its way with a big scoop of french vanilla ice cream on the side. And it would have been even better with some raisins and walnut chunks in it too. mmmmmmmm
Finished the game, my only complaint was that the speeches/dialogue was sometimes broken up. Guess this game had some problems with my computer. Wonder if it will run on my new XP? mmmmm, must shelve it for a while and try it soon. Thanks for your help.
