I seem to have developed a problem of disappearing inventory. I had the picture of that statue head that was found in the small locked trunk in the Eaton's apartment - now it's vanished - have no idea where it went - I looked at all the sketches in the sketch book thinking it went in there - nope.

Also I picked up the candle on the left of the table and it's unlit - I now can't pick up another one nor get rid of the unlit one.

As of this point I am dead in the water and have no idea how far back I'd have to go and I'm not fond enough of this game to do it anyway - anyone have any brillant ideas?

I'm not sure but if you talked to Bebe about the picture of the weird drawing of the head of Baphomet, you might have lost it there, legally. Check if the candle you have makes a halo on the fresco. If not, go back to a saved game prior to talking to Bebe. Talk to Bebe several times and all the conversation is REALLY exhausted - I think this is the trigger to get a lit candle that produce a halo on the fresco.

If not, I think I have a saved game here.

Never did get any mention of the head with BeBe and I went through all the conversations with her. I was checking the wt to see what the problem was and I came on that reference - so I started looking - it's gone. My problem with going back to a previous save is that it will be before I solved the solar puzzle - a long time ago and I'm not sure I even had the picture then - I do know I had it before I switched places and became Gus again - after that I didn't pay attention to it.

Guess I'll go back and look - but if it's not there - the game gets 86'd because like I said I'm not real crazy about it anyway.

I didn't explain well, The inventory picked up by Hellouin won't show up but you will have the record of what he found out. They are in the notebook and also found in the main menu, where you can check characters, etc.

Also, you can get his log book from his office after getting the key from his mom.

BTW, I mailed the saved games before I read your post.

Hi Mag - the first place I looked was the notes in the notebook but nothing is there - so there is some sort of logbook from Jacques? Maybe that was my mistake - I never got the conversation to get the so called log book - and I haven't seen hide nor hair of her since Jacques went to jail. Oh well -

She is in the room before Hellouin's office. Knock and you can talk to her.

Just so you know I tried knocking on the door - no dice - Gus tells me that there's no one there. So it looks like if you do what I did you're SOL arrggghhhh

There are several seeming dead ends, but those that I've found have workarounds. I can't explain the one in question, but in working with another player we discovered a situation where, if Bebe doesn't forge the introduction before Hulot is killed, you can't get into the lodge.

Except!!!! Remember those crystals you picked up in room 507? They contain sufficient remnants of the drug to temporarily put the guardian to sleep.

Thus, the dead ends may not be dead ends, but may require some unique thinking to get past them.

Ok I'm resurrecting this post to withdraw my rant I can now tell everyone that it wasn't a game bug - it was the much more deadly syd bug
