Sherlock Holmes, I'm not. Hey, I'm not even Dr. Watson--sheesh!!!

I'm in the lab, on my second torch--have the key from the drawer and the sand from in front of one locked door, plus two statues, matches, bandage, ribbon, empty bottle, and a water flask. The key won't unlock the door that has an action icon on it. I've looked at everything I can find in the room--what am I missing, before my torch runs out... eek

You need to use the oil flask on the small door before you can use the key on it. There are 3 keys and 2 will be used on the desk puzzle.

And Watson doesn't appear till the end of the game.

Good luck.

There are a lot of oil flasks in this game. I believe it is the one underneath the table in the middle of the room in the laboratory. Getting to it is kinda tricky, and getting out from under the table is tricky too.

You'll need to go on the side of the table with the bandages. You pan down then click on the ground to change view. You take the flask from undeer the table. To get out of this view, turn 180 degrees, then click on the cabinet to get back to normal view.

I believe this is the oil flask you need to use. Else, I forget which oil flask it was.

I have provided a walkthrough on this website. You can use my save and follow the walkthrough up until the point you are stuck. This is a last resort if you want to go that far.

Good luck.

Thanks, Fanatic, I really appreciate the help. I am aware of the walkthrough, and it must be a good one from all the comments that I've read. But Syd and I play together, and we signed a blood oath laugh not to use walkthroughs unless we were both stuck at the same place and couldn't get any other help.

I do have one more question--I've lit the second torch already, is that going to be a problem? If so, I'll just go back to a save that I have right where I lit it and replay a brief part.

Never mind, thanks! I just found the oil lamp...

Well, I'm glad I mentioned the correct oil flask. There are just way too many in the game. smile

Good luck playing through the remainder of the game.

Me again--I made it into the room with the buckets and the tub of water. I'm assuming that I have to put some comination of ounces into the bottles, but so far I haven't found the magic number. There doesn't seem to be any clue in my documents, was there a clue in something that I didn't catch previously? I don't want the answer, thanks, just a pointer in the right direction...

Trial and error was my clue. I don't recall a clue to this puzzle. At the very least, you can try different liter amounts until one works.

Sorry.

Thanks, Fanatic, that saves me a lot of wasted time trying to find a clue somewhere that I missed...

No Problem.

Witchen played through this game and beat it before I did. Perhaps she was able to find a clue somewhere for this puzzle.

Good luck.

cldenny to GameBoomers!

This is another puzzle -'how to pick up books or be a librarian for a day'.

SPOILER:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

There's a book you can pick up to the right of the main door. Check the color of that book and place it where it should go. Then you'll find another book in the bookcase you just place it in and then place that book where it should go again - and so on and so forth. Just one of those - clean the library chore.

yeah, you need to get that blue book, as MaG suggested, in the corner to the right of the door you came through to enter into the library. It is hiding behind the column.

Good luck.
