I am in the library and can't seem to pick up any of the books that are out of place. The hand is there to pick it up, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I've been upstairs and downstairs. Have I missed something or am I suppose to do something else before putting the books where they are suppose to go? Thanks

The books have to be picked up in a certain order--you're probably not starting with the right one. Try standing with your back to the library door, turning right and picking up the bright blue HISTORY BOOK from behind the white pillar...

Jenny, if you're talking about the blue book amongst the red ones, that was the first one I tried to pick up, but to no avail. If there is a book amongst the first set of books to the right (where the ladder is) my curser does not change to a hand to indicate there is a book to be picked up in that area. Is there a glitch that needs a patch?

The first book you must pick up is not on one of the bookshelves - just as you enter the room, turn right and look at the post in the corner of the room. The first blue book is tucked in sort of behind the post.

Well can we all say "dufus" together. I went back and clicked all over that pillar and nothing. Just as a thought I went to my inventory and what should be there, but the blue book. I don't remember picking it up (senior moment), so I am now on my way. Thanks guys. Boy do I feel dumb.

Butterfly says:

"I have had all three keys - I used one to go into another room and then came back to the desk. When I click on the front of the desk drawer the hand has a utensil in his hand (almost like a clipper), but when I go to the inventory and grab one of the keys and go back to where the two holes are for the keys to enter, all there is is his pointing hand (without the clipper devise)and when I go back to the inventory, the key is back. I went to UHS-Hints, and they said it might take a few times to get the keys into the holes, but this seems to be something different. What am I doing wrong? :pacify"

Hi there, Butterfly...

Not sure if you have a glitch going here or not, but you do have to use the right key in the right lock. The "clipper" thing showing up is a mystery to me. Do this:

Insert your two keys in the appropriate keyholes. The key with the symbol that looks like a G goes in the right side keyhole. The key with the sort of half-moon symbol goes in the left keyhole. Push the outer turn arrow on each lock once. Then press the "turn" indicator.

If you can't do that, go back to a save game and follow a slightly different path coming up to the desk drawer puzzle. This technique will often shake loose a glitch.

Thanks Witchen. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I guess in looking at the hand it looks more like the end of a wrench instead of clippers. It seems to come up when I am to use something from inventory. I am going to start on the rotating room now and hope I don't have to have too many helps, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
