Sunnydde: I also enjoyed Black Mirror. If you are talking about other mystery/horror type adventures you might be interested in Jack the Ripper
However, it doesn't ship out until mid January but i already pre-ordered mine at
http://www.chumbo.com/info.asp?s=625904402509 This was the best price that i could find even with free shipping.

Edit: Chumbo no longer ships free

If you like a really good adventure game Syberia is great with a sequel coming mid-2004.

And who knows if you check out their website you may find several games which you might like. smile

Hope this helps!!

The "that will work on XP" part is the hard part.
Some people have gotten "Ripper" to work in XP, but it takes a lot of tweaking.

Ripper setup

"Ripper" is not the same game as "Jack the Ripper."
It's an older DOS/Windows game from 1996 that uses FMV. I found the "mood" very similar to that in "Black Mirror." Some of the puzzles are pretty tough, but I think most of them are skippable.

"Black Dahlia" is a Windows game from 1998 that some people have gotten to work on XP.

Black Dahlia setup

It's another one with that supernatural/detective story mix.

And of course the Gabriel Knight games. The first two require tweaks, but I don't think the third one "Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned" is a problem. No more on XP than on Win 95/98/ME anyway.

Dark Fall
It's even better than Black Mirror in my humble opinion-in fact I would say it's #1 of my choice of adventure games.
Also the Gabriel Knight series is an all time favorite.
Depending on your computer, you may/may not be able to play the first but should the 2nd and 3rd.

Syberia is good as is The Longest Journey.
The first Cameron Files-I think Loch Ness was okay too.
Nancy Drew is good, playing as Senior Dect. is very hard in most of the games.
I guess we all have favorites and depends on what you're looking for.
Read some of the reviews posted here at boomers on the games mentioned and see what appeals to you.
Good luck and let us know what you picked!

I have Dark Fall and I think I will try that next. I have played the first and second G.K. and I really liked those too. I played syberia and I loved it but got very tired of going up and down sooo many steps. I have played all the N. D. except for the last two. Thanks for the tip on dark fall, I want to try that Black Dalia, and Jack the Ripper Sunny

Don't think you'll be dissappointed in Dark Fall, it's a good one and waiting for 2 to be released, I think Jonathan said early spring of 2004!?
Can't wait

Sunnydde, I have just started Dark Fall. Let me know how you make out. I am still wandering around just getting to everything. Haven't managed to get anything done yet though.
