I was wondering about Alida, if y'all recommend it? I think it looks pretty good. I am planning on getting it. Are there any bugs or patches? Is the story good? Thanks.

I didn't think about checking the reviews, eek . Thank you for pointing that out Ana.

Interesting, a rock band? Not to into rock but don't mind some of it. Looks like an interesting game. I will be buying it. Although, the install process sounds kind of complex.

Best Regards,
Preston

Preston C. -- the European version of the game comes with an installer. The North American version is a bit harder to install, but step-by-step instructions are included at the end of this walkthrough.

I liked the game a lot, and though there is a guitar in the game, I don't recall hearing any rock music at all. smile The game reminded me a lot of Riven.

I played Alida awhile ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact it is one of the games that remains in my 'library' to be replayed again. Agree with Becky that it reminded me a lot like Riven too.

thumbsup Great game - there were parts of it I replayed just for fun !
And the install process sounded a lot worse than it actually was , if that's any help...

Well, my first impression is " Hey-- Rhem 2 on an Island"... (I found Rhem 2 to be the hardest game I've ever attempted, impossible without a walkthrough). Anyway Im going in with an open mind. I wasnt able to do a full install, I'll try again.

Great game, only one tiny problem when playing.
When some puzzles are completed there is no sign that it has been done correctly - no beep or bongs. Much later on, problems can occur and you can't remember where or why you went wrong. Lots of walking involved. headscratch
I played once without looking at the walkthrough, got right to the end and found I had done something wrong way back and gave up. Played again with walkthrough and completed it!! Definately recommend it!! thumbsup

I loved Alida. I will have to get it out and play again. It's definitely a Keeper.

i enjoyed the game overall....however, the thing that got to me was after you solved a puzzle you really sometimes had no clue that you solved it...so you were kind of left in limbo a bit. I did enjoy the fact that it is a long game..you sure get your money's worth in playtime! I had to resort to a walkthrough fairly early on...and from time to time to be able to finish the game....One thing i DO recommend is that you take notes because if you have to stop playing for a while (like weeks or month(s) ) you might just forget what you've done, where you've been and just have to start all over again! i had to! The story is interesting, the sound is good, graphics are good and the puzzles..well, i found many to be very, very hard (hence resort to the walkthrough).

I played in on XP and found there were a couple of glitches in the game. A patch solved the problem, and I was able to complete the game. Loved it! (A much more interesting and varied environment than Rhem.)

I enjoyed it so much that I tried to replay it several months later, still with XP. Even with the patch, I couldn't get past one of the puzzles about 2/3 of the way through.(I had uninstalled the game after the first play.) The game kept crashing to my desktop and I finally gave up.

Has anyone tried it with Vista? Would love to give it another try.

Preston C.,
The music in the game is quite lovely. The background story is about the rock band, but there isn't any rock in it. I really enjoyed the game's puzzles and all the different environments.

I thought that the rock band theme had more to do with how people deal with that kind of fame and wealth. And for our next act...an island resort with a giant guitar! (Not to mention the extreme astronomy experiments, and so on.) Why not? The sky's the limit! I don't remember any rock music, actually. Unless you count the final strum, which was a bit um, painful.
