Towards the end of September I purchased Anacapri for $29.95. So far so good. For some reason after I started playing (this is me not the game) I decided I didnt like it and would trade it. I went back to eb where I bought it thinking I might get at least a decent price to put toward another game and was offered - to my amazement - $3.00. The game is only 4 weeks old. Anyone else have this experience. This is mind boggling I trade in books which are two or more years old at a third the cover price The kicker was I was told it would be sold for at least $15. Comments!!!!

Teresa -- I thought the game was retailing for $19.99. Do games often cost more in Canada?

It is probably Canadian dollars, not US dollars. CAN dollars 29.95 might be = to US dollars 19.95. It actually is the same in Denmark where we pay about 65 US dollars to 70 US dollars, depending on the exchange rate for Danish Crowns, even if the game in the is selling for a retail price 49.95 US Dollars in the US.

I don't know why teresa was offered only 3 $ CAN? for Anacapri, but maybe it has something to with theage old supply & demand thing. I mean there is enough Anacapri games out there right now, so they can't re-sell it for more than maybe 6-10 USD to make a profit (again) from the game.

Scarcer adventure games like Grim Fandago, or Monkey Island 1 or Gabriel Knight 1 (the original one) or Still life and Post Mortem + Syberia 1-2 will be selling for many US dollars, sometimes for over 100 US dollars.

Adventure gaming is fun smile

Hmmm. That may be why. And is EB games now letting you trade in PC games? I thought they'd stopped doing that.

Hi teresa, I'm guessing EB is a gamestore. I know our main one in the UK London area is 'Game' - they don't take PC games but when I've tried to trade-in (on behalf of my partner) a popular & current consol game I didn't in the end bother as I was offered so little for it! I would suggest trying either E-bay or the trading post here at GB. smile

I know when my boys trade a console game in, they get very little for it. That's why the kids that want to trade their games play them as quickly as possible so they get a higher price.

Amazon.ca and Amazon.com are both selling it for $19.95 now. Canadian dollars are worth about the same as US dollars now, but prices in Canada didn't immediately reflect the decrease in the value of the US dollar. They've been catching up recently though.

Actually the Canadian dollar is worth more than the American dollar. The reason prices haven't reflected this is that stock has been purchased at the old exchange rate and stores haven't cleared out their inventory to reflect the new prices.

It's becoming a serious political issue for the current parliament though as both consumers and retailers are demanding the Canadian government force wholesalers to lower their prices to reflect the real value of the dollar. The publishing business has been gouging consumers the most as their still selling books at the old 60 cent US mark. I went to an independent book seller today and they had a huge petition that people were signing saying that consumers were pledging to stop buying books if the prices didn't drop.

As far as EB games... yeah. You'll get shafted.

I would rather trade game for game with some one of game boomers as then you get your monies worth .I will also sell them but would rather do game for game when possible .Where I live we have 2 game places and I would nt bother taking them in as you need about 4 good games to get 1 if you are lucky

Sorry EB stands for electronic botique. I dont buy too many games from them usually walmart or best buy, but I didnt see the game there. Maybe Becky is right, they arent taking trades but say they do and offer so little no games are traded. This way it looks like customer service when in reality it isnt.

teresa, I was going to suggest you post the game for sale or trade here at GB's Trading Post. Here in the states most EB stores will no longer trade PC games.

I would think you could get a good trade here as there are always people looking to buy the newer games at a bargain of 1/3-1/2 off the original price. Or will trade for another new game.

Good luck to you,
Linda
