Just in case it's needed, I'm playing on a...
Windows XP
Pentium 4
Direct X 8.1
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200

I'm seeing a couple minor glitches in this game. For one thing, the main character's head and sometimes his upper body disappear and reappear every second or so. His head will suddenly look like a bunch of little black squares before disappearing from view completely, only to reappear half a second later. And it continually does this, flickering off and on. Has anyone else seen this odd glitch?

Also, don't know if this is just how it's supposed to be or what, but whenever switching to a new screen, the entire screen flashes to a dark fuzzy screen before going to the next scene. Does that make sense?

These things don't necessarily hinder gameplay, but they are rather annoying, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! smile

You might try reducing video acceleration and see if it helps with the flickering at all.

The dark, fuzzy screen when the screen changes may be a driver issue.

How do you do that? I just got the game and plan to play it next. I use XP, too.

Check the bottom of this webpage

for information on how to change acceleration settings in XP.

Nope, that didn't seem to help. I tried reducing it a few different times, moving the slider down one notch at a time, but nothing worked.

It may be something that can be fixed by switching your video card drivers then. Are your drivers the ones that came with the card?

I'm not sure, but I think so, Jenny. The driver is titled nv4_disp.dll. But I did mess around with the drivers a few months back, and don't remember if I updated it or not.

There's probably a newer driver by now. Nvidia seems to put out new ones every couple of months.
Their driver archive is here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

I'm not sure which version would work best with your card. Does anyone reading this have any idea? Anyone have a Geforce 5200 FX and a driver version that works with this game?

DXDIAG should tell you which version of the drivers you have. If you click the Start button in the lower left part of your screen, then Run, then type
dxdiag
in the box and OK it, the DirectX Diagnostic tool should appear. Look on the Display tab for information about your video card and what driver version it's using.

yup... me smile Using version 6.14.0010.4403 I do know that some of the later versions cause aggro with certain games, so I stick with the older driver!!!

Oh and I use dx 9b not 8.1 so that may have an impact...

You go by the last 4 digits. The 5672 would indicate version 56.72, from April 1, 2004. Those are fairly new, but not the newest. I think they are made to be used with DirectX 9, so updating DirectX may make them work better.

If you want to keep DirectX 8.1, you might try the drivers Tigger is using, which would be the version 44.03 from May 14, 2003 on this page
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

If you change your drivers, be sure to uninstall the drivers you are currently using. There are some tips here

Are you sure this is a Glitches problem?
Have you tried asking in Hints?
