Hey,

I was just weighing the chances for a Gray Matter sequel, and wanted to try and see if I can find sells data.
I actually found something:

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/38506/gray-matter/

So... 11k till today? Doesn't sound too promising...
But how do they usually sell?

Hi Tomer!

Glad you brought that up.

I also wonder how many copies an adventure game usually sells, including downloads.

I don't think anyone would release an adventure game if it only sold 11k worldwide, or only 500 copies in America in a week.

If you look at the bottom of the page, it says "Figures in the above tables are millions of units sold."

If so, that should mean that Gray Matter has sold 11 million copies worldwide, and that sounds more right to me smile

Kolby, it states on the right that Gray Matter sold 0.01 Million copies. That is 10 thousand.

Yes Kolby, if the graph was millions that would make it 11k million copies which is 11 billion copies smile

The millions thing as you can see has GM as 0.01 (Same Genre and Platform) which is 10 thousand copies.

If you check out this list from Wiki:

Quote:

The Sims (16 million shipped)[163]
The Sims 2 (13 million)[164]
The Sims 2: Pets [expansion pack] (5.6 million)[165]
World of Warcraft (12 million subscribers)[166]
StarCraft (11 million)[167]
Half-Life (9.3 million,[21][22] may include PS2 version)
Half-Life 2 (6.5 million,[21][22] may include Xbox version but does not include Steam sales)
Guild Wars (6 million in North America, Europe, and Asia; includes Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North)[168]
Myst (6 million)[169]
SimCity 3000 (5 million; includes Sim City 3000 Unlimited edition)[170

You'll see that 11 Million is about the best selling game of all time smile

Yes - 11 K sounds like little to me too. I don't know if it includes all versions (German, collectors edition and so on).
That's why I wondered if anyone here knew how much does the average AG sell.

** Interesting to see Myst there by the way - I still can't fathom how it's one of the best-selling games of all time (better than Gabriel Knight for example) - although the series is one of my favourites...
