It's been a while since I've posted. I'm looking for a new game to play, a good quality game. Anybody have any suggestions? Just to give you an idea, I've already played Black Mirror II, Dark Fall-Lost Souls, all the Carol Reed games (love those games!), Culpa Innata and Secret Files 2. Thanks for any help you can give. Joan

Of all the games released this past year, I think I'd recommend Lost Horizon. Cracking good fun, some great puzzles, and it's a long, long game.

Played that! I liked it! After some research I was thinking of playing Gray Matter. Any thoughts?

Joan, Gray Matter is the best game I've played all year, which is saying a lot, as this has been a strong year for games. I don't think it's quite on the level of the Gabriel Knight games, but it's still a Jane Jensen game with her trademark strong storytelling. Definitely worth playing. I've noticed that you've played Black Mirror 2. Have you played Black Mirror 3 yet? Very good game. Another great game is Edna and Harvey: The Breakout, which has a similar feel to the old Lucas Arts games with a bit of a darker tone in some parts. Still plenty of humor, though. Then there is The Next BIG Thing, by the creators of the Runaway games, if you like that sort of game. The female lead, Liz, is a very likable, entertaining character. And if you don't mind German voices with English subtitles, Goin' Downtown was another surprise hit this year, at least from my point of view.

Thanks guys! That gives me a lot to go on. I haven't played any of those games mentioned. So now I have my choice. Oh, decisions, decisions!

Gray Matter is definitely a few levels higher than most games released - you shouldn't skip it.
I take it you played all Gabriel Knights? They're a must...
There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

I vote for Lost Horizon too...very good game.
I have to vote a thumbs down on Gray Matter...didn't like it at all and I am a devoted Gabriel Knight fan.

I concur with Lost Horizon and Grey Matter they were 2 of may favorites for this year. Also, if you can get past the bug (and there is help in hints section here for it) 15 days was a really fun game.

I was able to download Gabriel Knight 3 on Vista (ugh!) through a Sierra Help Page, but I am not able to download the other two games. I have a lot of problems playing some older on Vista.

Joan, go get the games from GOG. They're only $5.99 each and they play just fine on my Win7 64 bit. GOG fixes them up to play on newer computers and you shouldn't have any trouble downloading them either with your browser or their downloader. If you use their downloader, though, you have to download that first and open it before you try to dl the game. Gil.

Thanks, Gil. I will give that a try because I hear so many good things about those games! Joan

The game manager is only for their games, gatsbygirl. They upgraded it recently for the advent of The Witcher 2, a very big game, and did a great job as far as I'm concerned. It performs flawlessly.
Extras, like manuals, papercraft, soundtracks, artwork and avatars, are still downloaded with your browser. And some of the old games are so small by today's standards that it really doesn't matter which method you use to download them. I just looked at the size of GK1 and it's only 370 MB!
Gil.

Gil, I did indeed download GK1 from GOG. I had no problem downloading with my browser. Now to play the game! Joan
