Double Fine AdventureUpdates have been posted about the upcoming Double Fine Adventure game (working title) at the Double Fine website, including the news that pledging a certain amount will result in a version of the game in an actual box made of actual cardboard, sized to fit perfectly between the Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle boxes on your bookshelf. So far the boxed version seems to be available only to those who pledge a certain amount, but this does also show a willingness to at least consider a boxed version once the game has released. (At least I think so...mumbling a bit, into my shirt.) More information, speculations, and lots of links about Double Fine Adventure can be found here on Wikipedia.*********************** Stacking for PCThe PC version of Stacking has also recently released in download form on Steam. It's currently on sale at 33% off the regular price. I've played a short ways into the game, and so far it is playing quite like an adventure game, with an engaging story, the ability to explore the environments, and puzzles based on a "stacking mechanic" -- jumping into other characters (all of whom look like Russian stacking dolls) and thereby acquiring their abilities. (So far, none of the gameplay requires quick reflexes.) This PC version of Stacking includes The Lost Hobo King, a second chapter/expansion in/of the saga. Additional information and screenshots can be found on the game's webpage.

I'd love to play Stacking. Get it off Steam and I will!

You're too clever. Unfortunately, I don't like octopus, in the can or Steamed. If it's take it or leave it, I can see now I'm going to be losing some game weight. On the ramparts, Gil.

Thanks Becky! I've wanted to play Stacking since I heard about it on Xplay last year, but didn't want to have to buy a new console in order to do that. Now I can get it on the PC--yay!
Tracy, who has a feeling she'll be "stacking" tonight like mad and keeping hubby awake while she clicks!

Venus -- does your job start today? Because today is the last day of the Kickstarter campaign. I believe it ends at 5:00 PST today. They've posted a final update, this one fully translated into German, and ending with the Dutch National Anthem (sounds easier to sing than The Star Spangled Banner, I must say).

Becky, ah no, it starts in a week or so! Thanks for letting me know; I thought I'd have a little more time. Just checked the amount needed, and $100 is a little pricey for me anyway, even with my new job. Oh, well, I may pledge $15 today, so I can at least get the DRM free version. Will have to see if I can make it work.

That was all I could manage, too, venus. Feels good, though, to do something even if it's not much.

Traveler, definitely, and I feel bad I wasn't able to do the same for Cognition. I was in a worse state then than I am now, though (no new job on the way), and I'll at least buy the game once it's released. Glad I was able to at least offer something small for this one. And, hey, we can pretend this game is free once we get it, since we'll have already put our fifteen dollars in.

... this one fully translated into German... You do understand the translation isn't "very" accurate, right? :-)
