I read earlier today an article showing how upset indie developers can't self publish on the upcoming Xbox One, and the last comment from a developer happened to be one of the developers of The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, and Dreamfall Chapters. He said that because they can't self publish on the Xbox One they are seriously looking at bringing Dreamfall Chapters to the PS4. Of course they would still make the PC version. I was just wondering what do all the fans of The Longest Journey, and Dreamfall think about the possibility of Dreamfall Chapters going to the PS4 as well? I myself love the idea and it would be a system seller for me. I would still get the PC version as well, as I am that much of a fan.

I don't play adventure games on a console but I do have both an XBox360 and a PS3 in the house and prefer the XBox. I wouldn't buy it for either one though and will stick with PC.

I don't own any consoles. When my sons were at home, we did, many years ago. They're grown with young families of their own now, but don't think they're into adventure games. More sports--maybe some shooters, and their kids into children's games. I personally would not buy a console just for a game. It would have to offer more advantages than that. But I'm not even sure what services consoles offer now days besides gaming.

I'm probably not the best person to survey. We live in Alaska surrounded by trees and do not currently have access to cable TV or Internet (just slow DSL). We use a Roku device to stream movies, which usually does ok. And we have DVD players and fairly upscale computers. But would a console really make sense in our situation? I have no idea.

It seems to me that the next generation of consoles are more geared to how Microsoft and Sony can sell access to our eyeballs and information on our surfing habits and what goes on in our living rooms than they are in serving any kind of gaming/entertainment function... you know, like the kind of thing you and I might have been interested in laying out $500 for!

The big hints will be when the prices of the new devices are way below the honest cost of developing and building them from the parts. And then, when the non-Microsoft/Sony techies start analysing the always on/phone home every day connections and find out what they're actually sending home.

Subtle hint: no PS4 or Xbox One in my living room.

I'm surprised they think they can get any better deal with Sony than they did with Microsoft.

The best gaming device for adventure games will probably always be the PC -- followed by certain mobile devices.

I too prefer the PC to a console however if I want to play with my kids, the ones at home and away I need to use either one of the consoles. As the PS4 and XBOX will have similar hardware specs it will come down in part to what games you want to play.
I do like that Sony is trying to cater to the indie devs after the disaster they had with the difficulty of creating for the cell technology in the PS3. The Witness by Jonathan Blow looks interesting and is to be a release title on the PS4 as an example of an indie game on a console.

And kudos the the developers of Dreamfall Chapters for even looking at the PS4 and if it comes to that system I hope some kids who turn their noses up at a PC will play the game and enjoy it.
With that said I would still play that game on a PC first.
