Hi,

noticed this offer at GOG today.

Quote:
Dracula 4 + 5, that is Shadow of the Dragon and newly released The Blood Legacy, a contemporary tale of mystery and terror delivered in the form of an intriguing and immersive point-and-click adventure game, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first three days! If you already own Dracula 4: Shadow of the Dragon on GOG.com, you receive the fifth game as a free update!

Yep - knowing full well that all reviews of these games are BAD - I bought them anyway..............

WHY? On Sale mainly and I liked the first two and have the third one in play.

Does ANYONE like then.............................

Yes, GOG is practically giving 4 & 5 away.
When they pay me to take them, I'll download those games...maybe.
The little I watched of the playthroughs was enough to convince me they are terrible and the devs ought to be ashamed of themselves for making "sequels" of such low quality.

They play in another league compared to the first three games in this series and their link to their prequels is almost nonexistent. The expectations from the gamers were set high and didn't meet with those two new games produced. And actually 4 + 5 are just one game divided in two chapters.

But if you are able to think them separate from the series they are actually not that bad. They are short and quite easy but work well and there are some decent puzzles. Easy bites between some more challenging and longer games. Or ideal for beginners. Specially with current price offer.

See reviews by Jenny100 here (4) and here (5).

This is the 2nd time I've got a game with no positive reviews. I got Rock'in Dead on sale too.

If you have low expectations you tend to forgive the games bad qualities if you got them at a good price and can then get some enjoyment from them.

Drac 5 had slightly better gameplay than 4. #4 was a short, feeble abomination of a waste of time.

The first three games in the series were all solid, atmospheric and thrilling experiences. They give you more Drac for your buck.

It's obvious Anuman is trying to bring in people who don't know what to expect from an adventure game and have probably played nothing but casuals (though the graphics in a lot of casuals are far superior to those in Dracula 4 & 5).
It's inexcusable, IMO, that they give them (and us) dreck.
As long as we accept it they'll continue to churn them out, not to mention dumbing down and chopping up their great adventure games for mobile devices.
Yes, it's their prerogative to make money off their games any way they see fit.
It's mine not to buy them.

I don't hate Dracula 4 and 5. I just think they're mediocre and closer to being "casual" games, while Dracula 1, 2, and 3 are true adventure games. Anyone who expects another game like Dracula 1, 2, or 3 in the Dracula series, probably won't be satisfied.

But for those who enjoy 1st person node-based games with panning, there aren't many being published any more now that Kheops Studios is gone. As TJL says, Dracula 4 and 5 do have a few good puzzles. $4.99 is a good price for both games -- less than the standard edition price of a Big Fish game. If I remember correctly, the price at release was $19.99 per episode, which was really too much.

And it is nice that GOG is selling both PC and Mac versions -- and the Mac version supports Snow Leopard.

Except for the lack of animations, I thought the graphics were fine. Most casuals do not offer 360° panning the way Dracula 4 and 5 do. But if Anuman was aiming for a casual audience, they shouldn't have made the video card requirements so high. Adventure Shop listed 1GB video RAM. Even if the actual requirement is only the 256MB of video RAM that GOG lists, that's more than casual gamers using computers with shared memory will have.

I didn't feel I had much to lose at that price either Mad, so I made my very first GOG purchase last night. Thanks for the heads up on that TJL!

ipad_Lover - did you play the Rockin Dead? Did you like it? I actually really liked the game a lot.

I just bought them too, and it was about time, the sale ends today.

I already have the fourth but not from gog, so I had to buy it again.

In light of the reviews I don't intend to play them immediately.

There was something about the colour of the sky in Dracula 3, with a nice atmosphere in that village, that truly impressed me. I played that one on the iPad. Now I will play 4 and 5 on the Mac.

Thank you Timo for making us aware of the sale, I am all about finding sales these days.

I bought this game CHEAP at Half-price books. It is so bad it is funny. Plays OK on a netbook however.

Glad to hear that SOMEONE likes it - I'll just have to finish it now - I've only started the game.

Anyway, I have Dracula 3 - but only started it. These two games - Drac 4 and 5 I'll eventually play and get the most out of them I can. Since they are inexpensive I'm OK with them being terrible.

I've finished these games. Because I got them cheap, I liked them - and I played them back to back.

If I had paid $19.95 for them each - I would have thrown rocks at them. But for $4.95 I thought they were fun as one game not two.

They should have released both as Dracula: The Lost Painting (no number) for $4.95.

The games were okay for the $4.95.

Did you ever finish Rockin Dead?
