Steve Ince reveals his love for a pirate.

Check out the video here.

Check out the screenshots here.

Quote:
Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle, the adventure videogame of an 8 year old girl, living in the beautiful 17th century Caribbean, who grows up to be its most famous pirate, is the brain child of adventure writer supremo Steve Ince.

With 18 years of adventure game writing behind him, there’s not a great deal that Steve doesn’t know and with writing credits including Beneath a Steel Sky, the Broken Sword series, In Cold Blood, and So Blonde (in which Captain Morgane first appeared), Steve holds an enviable position within the adventure gaming fraternity.

In his career to date, Steve has achieved three BAFTA nominations for his Broken Sword saga, Best story nomination from the Writers Guild of Great Britain and Best Video Game Script for So Blonde. When asked what his initial feelings were on developing the Morgane character, Steve said, “Moving into the new game with Captain Morgane, was exciting to revisit the same world (So Blonde) and some of the same characters put into a very different situation and a very different story.”

Steve continues, “The story is one of development with a character coming into her own. She starts as a child in the first chapter, and we quickly switch to when she’s about 17 years old where she’s getting the chance to prove herself in her father’s eyes and it’s a voyage of discovery for her.”

One of the key strengths of the game is its HD 1080p graphics on the Playstation 3 and PC versions. On any adventure game, investigating your environment is an essential tool is solving puzzles and deciding what action to take, Steve said, “The visual aspect of it is fantastic! To get such detail on screens is a joy really. When I first started in the industry working on low-res games that came out on floppy disks, you could only dream of this sort of quality.”

Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle will be launched in Q4 2011 on Playstation 3 featuring the Sony MoveTM, PC, Wii and DS. Steve concludes, “We had fun. It is a comedy game and we don’t worry about being necessarily historically accurate because we set out to have fun – it’s a fun pirate game.”

Happy Gaming!

Nice video interview! I like what Steve says about Morgane's surface toughness being at odds in some ways with her inner personality.

Thanks for the interview, Steve and Ana! Looking forward to playing this one! bravo

Becky, I liked that, too. He did something similar with Sunny - I liked that she was actually a very intelligent and resourceful character underneath her guise of ditziness, something she seemed to keep hidden even from herself. Looking forward to seeing the duality in Morgane in this game. thumbsup

Interrogator: [True or false?] All mangoes are golden. Nothing golden is cheap. Conclusion - all mangoes are cheap.

Helena: Where are these mangoes?
