Description

ASA: A Space Adventure is a first-person slideshow adventure game, originally made in tribute to Riven and 2001: A Space Odyssey. You play in 2057 as an astronaut who finds a strange black cube, which will teleport him on an unknown spaceship called the Ark. You will soon discover that you're not the first astronaut from planet Terra to come here : Philip Forte lived the very same experience in 2011 and, fortunately, he left a diary explaining his story. With this help, you will visit the Ark and try to access the various environments and planets, with one single thing in mind : going back home ! ASA was created by a single person for the love of puzzle games of an era, and if you're fond of the Myst or Rhem series, it's more likely that you will enjoy this journey !
History

ASA: A Space Adventure, Original Edition, was created in 2012 by Simon Mesnard alone with the Adventure Maker tool. Happy with the nice reviews and feedbacks from both the press and the players, he decided to put the game on Steam Greenlight. Later, while working on his new game project Catyph, Simon learned that ASA was greenlit on Steam, in April 2014. It was still possible to release the original game "as is". However, the original version had several technical issues related to its graphic engine, and a poor resolution of 1024x432. It was decided to redevelop the game from scratch with an all new engine with the help of developer Andrea Rinaldi. From July 2014 to February 2015, Simon and Andrea worked hard to redevelop ASA and create the Remastered Edition with Visionaire Studio. The whole programming was made by Andrea, which proved chalenging, and Simon gave him the graphic assets. He opened all the 3dsmax scenes of the original edition from his backup disk, and the 900+ backgrounds of the game were rendered again, in 1920x800, which in itself was quite a feat. The game arrived on Steam in February in private access, and several people including Beta-Testers and Press, could try the new Remastered Edition and give us their feedback. As we were quite happy with the result and felt ready, we released the game in March.

Be sure to vote for it over at GOG if you want to buy it there.
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/asa_a_space_adventure

The developer has answered some questions on the Black Cube blog at
http://blog.theblackcube.fr/2015/03/no-gog-release-savegame-bug-future.html

He says GOG was "not convinced."

There will be a DVD version, but not until the developer solves the "save game bug" that may appear if you use manual saves.
