I was afraid to see what their opinions would be, but it wasn't a bad selection!

Thanks, Donald. Nice to see Discworld Noir in there. I agree with Ana - that's a pretty good selection. wave

There were some really good games on the list but I was pretty surprised that I didn't even know about 40% of the games. duh

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Interesting selection of games. I noticed there were two Wadjet Eye games. And I was glad to see Soma on the list too.

It's missing some very noteworthy games...
Riven
Obsidian
Uru
Shivers
Return to Mysterious Island
Beyond Atlantis (the original, not the edited version)

Pretty much an entire subgenre ignored.

Quite a few fantastic titles there, though, all the same, Jenny100 ??

They're also missing Syberia, The Lost Crown and The Cat Lady. smile Also, I suppose they aren't well known enough, but if it were me, I would include Culpa Innata and The Moment of Silence. grin It is a really good, comprehensive list, though. I was happy to see Life is Strange included as well as Gabriel Knight (and at least my favorite of the series, GK2, got a mention), Grim Fandango, The Walking Dead, and of course, The Longest Journey. All fantastic games. thumbsup

It's a single person's favorite games -- and it's Richard Cobbett -- notorious Myst-hater.
He obviously doesn't have the same tastes as everyone else.
I like some of his choices, mostly the older ones, but others I have no interest in at all.

And he ignores established and well-liked subgenres while including games like Her Story which is a brand new subgenre.

It would be more honest if he said up front that he doesn't enjoy 1st person puzzle/adventure games, doesn't consider them to be adventure games, and won't be including them in his list. Instead he includes The Witness as a token example, though it's far from the best puzzle/adventure, and Zork Grand Inquisitor which was enjoyable but again hardly the best example of a first person puzzler and more an example of comedic Zork style.

Yes, that's a shame. I prefer third person myself, but I definitely agree more first person games should have been included, as there are many that enjoy them. Perhaps more people should have worked on the list, so there would have been more variety in the choices. I'm guessing he's not a Syberia fan either?

Also, while I'm really enjoying it, I'm not sure about the inclusion of Kathy Rain. I think it follows the original Gabriel Knight a little too closely to stand out with the other adventure games. (I do look forward to seeing what else the developers come up with, though, because I definitely think it's a very good game.) I think if he was including this year's games, Oxenfree is more original and deserved a mention.

I watched some Her Story on YouTube, and while I found it interesting, I don't really feel the need to get it myself. I feel like I've seen all I need to based on a playthrough. Nice subgenre game but not something I'd want to play again and again.

Also, it seems he really favors Day of the Tentacle. I love that game, but I think he loves it a lot more. lol

I wonder why Under A Killing Moon was not on the list.

One could say that about a LOT of games! Someone else's opinion of "best" games does not necessarily translate to our own opinions of our favorites.

That's right Drac! Just look at our list of favorites. Everyone has their own opinion of great.

Oh well, it is just somebody's opinion written to generate comments. All I needed to notice is games like Syberia were omitted while Kathy Rain was included. I don't believe it is a stretch to say KR is unlikely to be "elected" into the GB Hall of Fame alongside Syberia. With that said it's much to do about nothing.

Interesting list and some I wasn't aware of. Must check them out.
Always good to get other opinions, regardless of whether I agree.
