Tombstone Humor
These epitaphs are reported to be from actual tombstones...

On the grave of Ezekial Aikle in East Dalhousie Cemetery, Nova Scotia:
Here lies
Ezekial Aikle
Age 102
The Good
Die Young.

In a London, England cemetery:
Ann Mann
Here lies Ann Mann,
Who lived an old maid
But died an old Mann.
Dec. 8, 1767

In a Ribbesford, England, cemetery:
Anna Wallace
The children of Israel wanted bread
And the Lord sent them manna,
Old clerk Wallace wanted a wife,
And the Devil sent him Anna.

Playing with names in a Ruidoso, New Mexico, cemetery:
Here lies
Johnny Yeast
Pardon me
For not rising.

Memory of an accident in a Uniontown, Pennsylvania cemetery:
Here lies the body
of Jonathan Blake
Stepped on the gas
Instead of the brake.

In a Silver City, Nevada, cemetery:
Here lays Butch,
We planted him raw.
He was quick on the trigger,
But slow on the draw.

A widow wrote this epitaph in a Vermont cemetery:
Sacred to the memory of
my husband John Barnes
who died January 3, 1803
His comely young widow, aged 23, has
many qualifications of a good wife, and
yearns to be comforted.

A lawyer's epitaph in England:
Sir John Strange
Here lies an honest lawyer,
And that is Strange.

Someone determined to be anonymous in Stowe, Vermont:
I was somebody.
Who, is no business
Of yours.

Lester Moore was a Wells, Fargo Co. station agent for Naco, Arizona in the cowboy days of the 1880's. He's buried in the Boot Hill Cemetery in Tombstone, Arizona:
Here lies Lester Moore
Four slugs from a .44
No Les No More.

In a Georgia cemetery:
"I told you I was sick!"

John Penny's epitaph in the Wimborne, England, cemetery:
Reader if cash thou art
In want of any
Dig 4 feet deep
And thou wilt find a Penny.

On Margaret Daniels grave at Hollywood Cemetery Richmond, Virginia:
She always said her feet were killing her
but nobody believed her.

In a cemetery in Hartscombe, England:
On the 22nd of June
- Jonathan Fiddle -
Went out of tune.

Anna Hopewell's grave in Enosburg Falls, Vermont has an epitaph that sounds like something from a Three Stooges movie:
Here lies the body of our Anna
Done to death by a banana
It wasn't the fruit that laid her low
But the skin of the thing that made her go.

More fun with names with Owen Moore in Battersea, London, England:
Gone away
Owin' more
Than he could pay.

Someone in Winslow, Maine didn't like Mr. Wood:
In Memory of Beza Wood
Departed this life
Nov. 2, 1837
Aged 45 yrs.
Here lies one Wood
Enclosed in wood
One Wood
Within another.
The outer wood
Is very good:
We cannot praise
The other.

On a grave from the 1880's in Nantucket, Massachusetts:
Under the sod and under the trees
Lies the body of Jonathan Pease.
He is not here, there's only the pod:
Pease shelled out and went to God.

The grave of Ellen Shannon in Girard, Pennsylvania is almost a consumer tip:
Who was fatally burned
March 21, 1870
by the explosion of a lamp
filled with "R.E. Danforth's
Non-Explosive Burning Fluid"

Oops! Harry Edsel Smith of Albany, New York:
Born 1903--Died 1942
Looked up the elevator shaft to see if
the car was on the way down. It was.

In a Thurmont, Maryland, cemetery:
Here lies an Atheist
All dressed up
And no place to go.

Thanks Joe for my morning tongue exercises. Yikes!

Good news and bad news on the neighbor's son's cats that he wanted me to adopt. Good news is they got adopted. Bad news is my Neighbor adopted them. Sigh. He couldn't refuse the son who he still gives money to even though the kid hasn't lived here since he was 2 and now he's in his mid 30's and STILL in college.

Anyway, I will probably end up with 2 new cats eating at my feeder and sleeping in the cat tents before long. Oh well, I tried. At least my neighbor is doing the right thing for the kitties. He told me their names and descriptions (descriptions are not even close to what one looks like). I spotted that one just now over the fence looking at me like 'who are youuuuu?'. He's a long hair (neighbor forgot to tell me that detail which would have helped a lot. Looks very pretty 10 months old neutered. Other one is mostly black too he says. I'm wondering if it's a long hair too. And it's a girl (spayed). He says they sleep in their cat carriers at night outside his back door and he lets them in for hugging and food, etc. They have never been outside since birth! Hope they learn the fun stuff to do with all the birds and mice and that if they do venture over here (it's just a matter of time) that they get along with all the outdoorises. Ohhhhh! We shall see what the pecking order will be. Hoping for the best for those little guys! I'll do what I can to coach the neighbor, who has never had a cat, ever. He's gonna have an interesting life from here on. I'm trying to convince him to let them remain indoor cats. He's not sure he wants to but they are litter trained etc and it would be so simple. Yup.

WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.

Magnificent Monday ya'll puppy

I had to be up and out early. Needed a bunch of new scripts for chronic conditions. Of course, they just changed me to a new doc who would not give me scripts without me being there. I did not like her even one little bit. I loved my last doc sad

Anyway, eventually I got some of the meds and picked them and picked up hubby's meds too. Now I need to record the numbers and when they need to be refilled.

Cable guy coming this afternoon. Our phone has always had bad moments since we switched it to cable. And our cable was up and down and laggggggggy yesterday.

Doggies were more than anxious to have breakfast when I got home. Son is working nights so have to keep the 4 legged ones quiet as son's bedroom is right at the dog barking spot.

Gail, I hope the treatments go well and you will be finished soonest.

Ana, how is your toe? Have fun tonight.

Good afternoon boomies. I had a nonstop catch up day while waiting to get back in the corner but it'd delayed until tomorrow. yay I am now getting ready to head to class in a little bit. I can't wait to dance again. woot

I hear the winter storm is on it's way too. Anywhere from 6-12 inches. It will be pretty and won't last long so I won't complain. grin

I was unloading groceries from the back of my truck this afternoon and my truck slid down the driveway on the ice and almost ran me over. eek It went 6 feet before I could get the drivers door open and stomp on the emergency brake. lol

Hope you all are enjoying your day!

Hey everybody. wave

I had an incredibly busy work day. tired

Yesterday I was supposed to get off at 3 and it was 3:45 before I left. Today I was going to leave at 1:00 and it was 1:45 before I left. razz

I guess I need to plan onb leaving 45 minutes earlier. lol

I came home and went out walking and head hunting with Baby and did too much walking and stayed out too long.

I'm very tired and my feet are screaming at me.....and my sinuses keep going, "Don't forget we're not through causing you grief yet." sniff sniff

Tomorrow I am scheduled 2:00 till 11:00. shocked whoopee

joe

EDIT: Oh yeah, we got up to 81 degrees today. slapforehead
