Oh my! Thanks for the heads up. So many scams out there. I keep getting one for "Click here to see why your Pay Pal purchase charge was rejected. I'm NOT clicking. I keep getting them every day in different forms. Ugh. I don't have an EZ Pass either so I won't be tempted.

It wouldn't do them to send me an e-mail for this because I don't use EZ Pass. I'd know right off it was phony.

People need to remember, no business will ever send you an e-mail if you owe money for anything. You will receive an invoice through the mail. That way they have a record you've been served the notice. Plus, if you suspect something fishy, call the company supposedly sending you the e-mail on a phone number you know reaches that company. NEVER, EVER, PANIC when you receive any e-mail demanding payment for this or that. Look into it first.

Words to heed, Homer! I'm always amazed that people STILL click on something in an email like this.

I just got through deleting this EZ Pass email which I've received a couple of times. I don't even have a license so...

I've also received a couple that are something about a court summons that I've deleted.

Oldbroad, you'd better watch out for the visit from the virtual Court Bailiff... wink

Our latest scam is someone calling from the local power company saying you owe money and your services will be shut off if you don't IMMEDIATELY get one of the 'cash cards' and send it to them. You won't believe how many people are falling for that one. The worst is local businesses (esp a restaurant owner) who did this TWICE? How can you manage a big restaurant and fall for a scam about your power bill? I'm baffled.

The other one is older people getting a call from nephew, grandson, etc. saying they are in Jail in Mexico (we are only 5 miles from the border) and if they don't send money immediately they will be beaten or killed. More than a few have fallen for this one. I just can't figure why the 'grandma' doesn't CALL the rest of the family to check. Bless her little heart, my own Mom would have fallen for this one. So kind, so trusting.

Scammers, hate them.

I'm watching out Lex. Don't worry! Actually had the email today. Green Winick Laywers - Notice of appearance in court No#2998. Also had today, ALERTS from ICM - A background check on you. Both deleted.

I happened to see an episode of The Lone Ranger that had a similar plot as what you mention in your second paragraph Sorta. I saw it about a year ago when I was flipping channels so I can't remember exactly what it was about but defintely on the same line. Scamming money from a mom or grandmom to get the guy home from the somewhere. I guess tv really is a bad influence or else this type of scam has been around since before tv.

Our news warned about both of those, Sorta, some time ago. And they immediately say the power company doesn't operate that way, and be very cautious of people asking for money over the phone. I know for a fact I'd be the last one any relatives would call.
