What is Celibacy?

Celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by circumstances.

While attending a Marriage Weekend, Frank and his wife Ann listened to the instructor declare, “It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.”

He then addressed the men. “Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?”

Frank leaned over, touched Ann’s arm gently, and whispered, “Gold Medal-All-Purpose, isn’t it?”

And thus began Frank's life of celibacy...

I never knew this.

Penguins

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins
on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go ?

Wonder no more ! ! !

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic
bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguin is very committed to its family and will
mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of
compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other
members of the family and social circle have been
known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial
wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for
the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle
around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

You really didn't believe that I know
anything about penguins, did you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two businessmen in Florida were sitting
down for a break in their soon-to-be new
store. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few
shelves set up.
One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some senior is going to
walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling."
No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a
curious senior walked to the window, had a peek, and in a soft voice
asked, "What are you sellin' here?"
One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling butt-holes."
Without skipping a beat, the old timer said, "Must be doing well...
only two left."
Seniors -- don't mess with them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jails and Nursing Homes

Here's the way it should be:

Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in nursing homes.

This would correct two things in one motion:

Seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc.
They would receive money instead of having to pay it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they would be helped instantly if they fell or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes.
All meals and snacks would be brought to them
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight/fitness room, spiritual counseling, a pool and education...and free admission to in-house concerts by nationally
recognized entertainment artists.
Simple clothing - ie., shoes, slippers, pj's - and legal aid would be free, upon request.
There would be private, secure rooms provided for all with an outdoor exercise yard complete with gardens.
Each senior would have a P.C., T.V., phone and radio in their room at no cost.
They would receive daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear any complaints and the ACLU would fight for their rights and protection.
The guards would have a code of conduct to be strictly adhered to, with attorneys available, at no charge to protect the seniors and their families from abuse or neglect.

As for the criminals:

They would receive cold food.
They would be left alone and unsupervised. They would receive showers once a week.
They would live in tiny rooms, for which they would have to pay $5,000+ per month.
They would have no hope of ever getting out. "Sounds like justice to me!"

Still raining off and on around here. Snow in our mountains. I'm betting school attendance is low since all the kids will be playing hookey to go play in the snow.

Penelope the Peacock has an ouchie. She wasn't here for 2 days (not unusual) and then when she came back yesterday during the rain, she just huddled near my car, outside the fence/deck. She usually flies up and over and jumps to her feeding table for the grapes and sunflower seeds. I waited, she huddled, looked like she wanted to come in but just stayed out in the rain. Finally I went out in the rain, right at her usual eating time, got all wet, opened the gate and she walked in. Hummmmm. Then she walked over to her table and made the jump up (she goes straight up on one hop) and MISSED. She landed on the bench under the table. NOT good. She just stood there and then walked outside to the car again. I took her plate of food out and set it down in front of the car and she ate (not the usual glutton) but enough. Then after awhile she walked home. Not her usual spry self. Not agressive.

Today she is back, by the car, so I set the plate of food there and she ate again. She looks OK, seems to be doing normal stuff except for not being able to make that jump, no limping, nothing weird. I think something, or someone, happened. Maybe she got clipped by a car or someone kicked her? Dunno. I'll keep the food outside where she can get at it and wait for her to 'heal'. I'll know when I see her fly or find her on the deck without opening the gate. Poor Penelope. Only upside is the Outdoorsie cats are happy and eating without interference.

Ran out of AA batteries. Reason? Changed all the batteries in my 'flameless' candles. I have them all over the house like little accent lights. I put them in dark corners (lots of those in my tiny old house), and behind the toilet (nice to see the illumination in the middle of the night. I have some on the buffet where I put little 'finds' from the thrift store. The candles light up the goodies and make for a nice display. I also have 'sensor' lights all over in areas where I might stub my toes. Makes it so much easier (and cheaper) to walk through a room without turning on the lights. So my friend/tenant found some Duracell, AA batteries on Ebay for really cheap. Ex date 2020 so I think they will last. He's selling me some for cheap cheap. Nice.

Off to watch the stupid drivers outside. Speeding by when it's raining and not caring. Already 3 accidents in 2 days on my street. One only 4 houses away where someone turned out of a side street and got broadsided by a speeding car on my street. Like I said, the speed limit is 30 on my street. It's a wide 2 lane, with a center turn lane (which the nuts use more like a passing lane) and has enough width for parking on both sides. Very very wide with long blocks and people just gun the engine and off they go. Crossing on foot is terrible. By the time you get half way across, they are already on top of you and they DON'T slow down or stop even if you are at a corner! Must be a law about going fast or you lose points? Ugh!

Ran out of Lunchable Pepperoni and Motzerella cheese. I eat one every morning and it's just enough to get me going. Gotta GO and get more.

UPDATE: I came back from shopping and miraculously, Penelope, who had been again hunkering down in front of my car, was INSIDE the fence on the deck. Hooray! She still is subdued, but somehow managed to get over a 6 foot fence. Other option is jump 4 feet to the hose holder, then another 4 to the roof and then down onto the deck. Wish I'd turned on the security cam recorder! In any case, it's good news so far. Whew.

Magnificent Monday ya'll puppy

Been up for a long time, but working on mad scientist stuff in the kitchen which involved a lot of stirring and cleaning and watching and timing. Have much to do today.

Weatherman said it would be 80 tomorrow and possibly snowing on Thursday eek

Doc, Seagy is doing great. Thanks for asking. Every day is a gift. Our Pet Vet section on the news today was talking about canine lymphoma.

How are all your critters?

Sorta, Poor Penelope. Glad she has you to look after her.

Off to vacuum...hooray!

Penelope, what happened?????? Anyway, Sorta, if she got hit while in the road and she hurts a bit -she's learned to stay out of the road. Let's pray she heals up/recovers and perhaps has learned something. Keep her in grapes. You know she has a following here.

Warmer today and warmer yet tomorrow -yippee. We don't have snow here but I'm so tired of this weather. Come-on Spring

Did some "Why bother" nonsence today and now on to the games!!! Another yippee

Lunch today was a gardien beef sandwich and it was good

Penelope managed to make it into the deck over the fence, and spent the day, and I had to let her out when it was going home time. I opened the gate and she walked out. She's not sure if she wants to go home. I really think the way she's acting with the leg lift and down on each side that someone might have kicked her in the chest. She did try to flap her wings a few times before I opened the gate, but didn't try to jump for the lift-off. Poor girl. She's going to be fine I think, but somebody must have hurt her. She started home and got to the end of the driveway and then turned around and came back. I'll let her stay overnight in the safety of my deck if she isn't gone by dark. Oh the joys of having a semi-wild peacock!
