"A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age."
Robert Lee Frost
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everyboomie.....OOPS! I'll bet you want some jokes.
I'll be back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

10 Office Rules:

10. Never walk without a document -- People with documents look like hardworking employees headed to important meetings. People with nothing in their hands look like they're headed for the cafeteria. People with a newspaper in their hand look like they're headed for the toilet. Above all, make sure you carry loads of stuff home with you at night, thus generating the false impression that you work longer hours than you really do.

9. Use computers to look busy -- Any time you use a computer, it looks like "work" to the casual observer. You can send and receive personal e-mail, chat and have a blast without doing anything remotely related to work. These aren't exactly the societal benefits that the proponents of the computer revolution would like to talk about, but they're not bad either. When you get caught by your boss -- and you will get caught -- your best defense is to claim you're teaching yourself to use new software, thus saving valuable training dollars.

8. Messy desk -- only top management can get away with a clean desk. For the rest of us, it looks like we're not working hard enough. Build huge piles of documents around your workspace. To the observer, last year's work looks the same as today's work; it's volume that counts. Pile them high and wide. If you know somebody is coming to your cubicle, bury the document you'll need halfway down in an existing stack and rummage for it when he/she arrives.

7. Voice mail -- Never answer your phone if you have voice mail. People don't call you just because they want to give you something for nothing -- they call because they want YOU to do work for THEM. That's no way to live. Screen all your calls through voice mail. If somebody leaves a message for you and it sounds like impending work, respond during lunch hour when you know they're not there -- it looks like you're hardworking and conscientious even though you're being a devious weasel.

6. Look impatient and annoyed -- According to George Costanza, one should also always try to look impatient and annoyed to give off the impression that you're always busy.

5. Leave the office late -- Always leave the office late, especially when the boss is still around. You could read magazines and storybooks that you always wanted to read. Make sure you walk past the boss' room on your way out. Send important e-mails at unearthly hours (i.e. 9:35pm, 7:05am, etc.) and during public holidays.

4. Creative sighing for effect -- Sigh loudly when there are many people around, giving the impression that you are under extreme pressure.

3. Stacking strategy -- It is not enough to pile lots of documents on the table. Put lots of books on the floor, etc. (thick computer manuals are the best).

2. Build vocabulary -- Read up on some computer magazines and pick out all the jargon and new products. Use the phrases freely when in conversation with bosses. Remember, they don't have to understand what you say, but you sure sound impressive.

1. MOST IMPORTANT -- DON'T forward this to your boss by mistake!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Out-Of-Office" E-Mail Auto-Reply:
1: I am currently out at a job interview and will reply to you if I fail to get the position. Be prepared for my mood.
2: You are receiving this automatic notification because I am out of the office. If I was in, chances are you wouldn't have received anything at all.
3: Sorry to have missed you but I am at the doctors having my brain removed so that I may be promoted to management.
4: I will be unable to delete all the unread, worthless emails you send me until I return from vacation on 4/18. Please be patient and your mail will be deleted in the order it was received.
5: Thank you for your email. Your credit card has been charged $5.99 for the first ten words and $1.99 for each additional word in your message.
6: The e-mail server is unable to verify your server connection and is unable to deliver this message. Please restart your computer and try sending again.'(The beauty of this is that when you return, you can see how many in-duh-viduals did this over and over).
7: Thank you for your message, which has been added to a queuing system. You are currently in 352nd place, and can expect to receive a reply in approximately 19 weeks.
8: Hi. I'm thinking about what you've just sent me. Please wait by your PC for my response.
9: Hi! I'm busy negotiating the salary for my new job. Don't bother to leave me any messages.
10: I've run away to join a different circus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

How's that?..........................MORE?

I'll be back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If you're going to work here young man, " said the boss, "the number two thing you must learn is that we are very keen on cleanliness in this firm." "Did you wipe your feet on the mat as you came in?" "Oh, yes, sir." responded the young man. "And another thing the number one thing we are very keen on is truthfulness. There is no mat." said the boss.
If You Get Caught Sleeping at Your Desk
1. They told me at the blood bank this might happen.
2. This is just a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in the last time management course you sent me to.
3. Whew! Guess I left the top off the liquid paper.
4. I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new paradigm!
5. This is one of the seven habits of highly effective people!
6. I was testing the keyboard for drool resistance.
7. Actually I'm doing a "Stress Level Elimination Exercise Plan" (SLEEP). I learned it at the last mandatory seminar you made me attend.
8. I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work related stress.
9. Darn! Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem.
10. The coffee machine is broken.
There! thumbsup
Good morning ever..Ooooo! There's that Deja Vu thing again. shocked
Good morning everyboomie. wave
I'm a little winded from running back and forth and carrying all those jokes. tired
I don't mind though.
I love doing charity work.
If I can make some people laugh or smile after eating my cooking, then I feel like I've probably saved a life......or two. snicker
Good Morning tonight Boomers!! Joe, I sent that horrid cook packing a loong time ago...sorry to hear he showed up at your home. Has anyone heard how Gail is doing? Still praying for you, Gail. hearts Thank you for the well wishes, Nan. It shouldn't be a bad storm, just lots of rain and some wind. We shall see. No snow this time, L4L but that might be fun. Ana, I freeze a lot, dehydrate and do some canning. We have three small freezers, two fridge kinds and one fridge kind in a travel trailer which we utilize as needed. We also have two generators and a supply of gasoline just in case. I would prefer to do more canning and just may do that next year. Yankee, your Commander kitty sounds like such a funny character. I would love just to see his picture. I have heard Bengal's are very busy cats. Going to game for a bit before bed. Have a great day all and Happy Gaming!! wave
Lotus, Doc talks to Gail a lot so I am hoping she will have an update if Gail can't.
I am glad you have a generator with all the food.
I have a couple Blue Jays hanging out in my yard and I am hoping they come back today so I can get some pictures. They are so pretty.
Good morning Joe and all Gameboomers! smile
Been up since 4. Not sure what I'm doing today. Gonna take my to-do list and put it on the wall to throw darts at. I'll try to do the 3 things I can hit with a dart.
The walk yesterday was good - tiring, a little painful to the calf muscles but I felt like I was accomplishing a couple things. Exercise, fresh air, picked up a couple things at the drugstore.
I'm having a little low-level anxiety and my mood is a little iffy. Think I'll play a hog for a while to try to mellow out.
Wishing health and good gaming to all Gameboomers.
Glad you're ok Gail.
PS: I've decided to go out for a walk later. Try to see how far I can make it into town. I'm aiming on making it all the way to the library.
PPS: On second thought I'm going in the other direction. Need to hit the Family Dollar for some batteries for this mouse! taz
Fantastic Friday ya'll wave
I seem to have developed a delicate inner ear in my old age. I went to bed really early last night cos I didn't feel well. Woke up bright and early today. Popped up and did various chores this morning. Felt great. Then decided to vacuum the blades of the ceiling fans. Well, let me tell you....that was a horrible idea. By the time I finished, I was fighting to keep breakfast down. I went up and layed down and sipped gingerale. Finally felt like I might be able to keep a pill down, so took one. Now I'm back up to attempt book cooking whilst continuing to sip gingerale. We shall see if this is doable.
Hubby has not been able to do that tip your head all the way back thing for awhile, but this is my first experience with it. Yukkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!
I'm glad to hear Gail is home. I hope she is being royaly spoiled by the family. wave
Back in a bit. puppy
Ran late this morning and made it to class about a second before it started. Then I was in my truck in the parking lot and hubby pulled up wanting to work out with me. lol I went to Starbucks to get some coffee and went home to grab my gym bag and swim suit and discovered I have no internet. Went back to the club and worked out another hour with hubby and then we hot tubbed it for awhile and came home to have lunch.
Internet finally came back and I am heading to the park with the dogs and then going to the corner for the rest of the day.
Are we having fun yet?
Nan, my goodness! That is cold walking weather! I am not appreciative enough of some of the nice weather we get here. It's sunny and a very nice breezy 68 here. It felt great walking only I wish there was a bench or chairs when I got there or along the way somewhere. But that's just nitpicking.
Feeling better after a nap and something in my stomach. I had a weight watchers egg mcmuffin and you know for some reason a breakfast sandwich always seems to lift my spirits, not to mention give my stomach something to do! lol
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Looney. Take it easy and it'll pass quicker.
Ana, I can't stress strongly enough how much I admire your dedication to exercise. I won't say I hate it, but I don't like it. At least not yet. It may grow on me.
Lotus, good luck with your storm.
Hope you're on lots of painkillers Gail. wink
Enjoy your time with Baby, Joe. puppy
Health and gaming goodness to all Gameboomers! penguin
