Hi. I'm booked for a Spring Caribbean cruise, my first, and am wondering about clothing. Needing to lose about 25#'s and being over 65 means I won't be wearing anything too short or anything sleeveless, and yes I will be leaving my string bikini at home.
Now, we will be dinning in the main dinning room and was told casual attire, how casual? Also we will be having two of our dinners in an Elegant Dinning area................All input will be appreciated for any help.
Next, I will be attending a Beach wedding.............need help again with attire.
HELP!

I have never been on a cruise so I can't help there, but there is a pro here that can help. I will send her a message to come help you.

Terri,

It depends on the company or ship you booked in. Most of the family cruises are semi-formal for dinner. They also inform you of the dress codes.
Also the time of dinner you are booked in: early or the late dinner hour.
Other exclusive cruise lines require formal outfits for dinner especially during the Captain's dinner.

Check the info or the website of the cruise line; then look for the name of your ship. There will be a description.

Also - don't worry about short sleeves or swim suits, there will be all kinds of outfits on the ship. You can also buy anything you want on board or a stop over.

Just enjoy yourself.

Hi Everyone. Yes, I forgot to mention it is an early dinner, 6:00 PM. I will be sailing on The Magic, with Carnival Cruise line.
MaG, no way would I wear anything too revealing, not with this body. I do have a nice swim suit I shall take but may not use it, we'll see. (just kidding about the string bikini) All my blouses will with be 3/4 sleeve, dolman, poncho type,(very loose and flowing). Past this, I am clueless as to what to take.
Terri thanks

Dressing for dinner, unless it's at the elegant restaurant you referred to, isn't at all necessary. Slacks and a pretty top or even clean, tailored jeans would be OK. Not shorts or flip flops, but sandals are fine. The current trend is for comfort within reason. Evening dresses are saved for special nights and occasions. During the day, shorts and capris are fine. Carnival is one of the more casual and easy-going cruise lines, and their cruises are usually lots of fun.
You'll have a great time! penguin

The only cruise I've been on was a Carnival cruise and it was as luv2travel says.... a bit more casual and easy going and a HUGE amount of fun! Even hubby who usually hates stuff like that had a wonderful time and would do it again.

Thanks for the input ladies, keep the info coming. Don't forget to make suggestions for the beach wedding I will attend. I think I found where it said cocktail dress for those two elegant dinners. Does that sound right?
