I was just in the middle of a tense scene during my replay of the original "The Black Mirror" when a Malwarebytes message suddenly imposed itself on the screen - informing me that an important new (free) version was available and needed to be installed as soon as possible shocked

But I couldn't get out of the game to do deal with it. In fact I couldn't DO anything at ALL because my computer (Win7) had completely locked up eek

So I had to use the reset button on my machine and go from there !!

As I use the "free" version of Malwarebytes - which doesn't run real-time in the background - how could this happen ??

Really annoying mad

I have the free Malwarebytes too.

If you open up the program and then click on settings, then go to Notifications, you can set this to off. Supposedly after that, notifications will not pop up in the Windows System Tray. I haven't tried this myself, but perhaps that would avert what you experienced.

Thank you, Marian. I might just try that grin

I presume if I do, the next time I run Malwarebytes I will be informed if I need to update it, do you reckon ??

Well, I've obviously now got the new version I was ordered to get today lol

So I'll try the notification thing in settings that you told me about - and if I ever get prompted to update again (when I ask Malwarebytes to run) I'll certainly let you know yes

Thanks, Mad. You can experiment with it for us both. grin

(I too had a popup notification like that in the past that completely locked up my computer. Disconcerting, to say the least!)
