I played this game many years ago and really enjoyed it. I had a chance to pick it up very
reasonanably so thought I'd see if I could get
it to run on Windows XP Home Edition. I changed
the compatability mode in the game properties and it seems to be running o.k. However when I try to save my game it doesn't like any name I give to my save...it has *sav. when you click on the file at the top of the page and go to save game...when you want to find your game you
go to the word open...but when I try to save a file it doesn't work. I just can't remember how
to save in this way as it has been a long time doing so. On the right of the save/open file it shows List types of file:ie.e Folders:ie
c:\music, the mummy etc. Can anyone tell me how to name the game I want to save. Perhaphs I need the name save first? Thanks for any tips....

Try naming it in the format of no more than 8 letters (or numbers) with .sav on the end. For example

save01.sav
save02.sav
start.sav
mummybug.sav

or something that has more meaning for you. Just make sure you don't have any more than 8 letters or numbers before the .sav

Mummy: Tomb of the Pharaoh is an old game from 1996, so it may be 16-bit and can't handle more than 8 letters or numbers in the save name.

You might have to browse to your My Documents folder in order to create saves for the game. Or you could create a folder inside your My Documents folder called "Mummy" and put your saves inside of that.

Save game server has one save on their site for this game. The format used for this save is plane.sav if that helps.

Where did you install the game? With most older games the save folder is placed in the game folder where the game installed. With XP and Win7 programs install to program files or program files x86. You cannot write to that folder therefore you cannot create any saves. You must install the game to My documents or to a new folder on your C Drive.
