Has anyone here heard of the virus: Web.longfintuna.net? I took my machine in to the shop and they did a deep clean for viruses. When I brought it back home it has popped up once. I called them up and they told I may need to re-format/re-install Win 7.
I do not want to go that route if I can avoid it. I have done some looking around and one place said to reset IE and then run Malwarebytes. I have not done this yet, want to see if anyone here have any ideas. My OS is Win 7 and using IE 10. wave

You mean you paid money to have your machine cleaned of viruses and they sent it back to you with an infection? Ummm... You might want to find another computer repair shop.

Most shops reinstall the OS as it's simplest and fastest way to get rid of malware. However, if you want to go through all the steps, there are some websites that will walk you through it. This link explains what this malware is and how to get rid of it.

Remove Longfintuna

Bleeping Computer is a great website to get help for removing Malware and Smartest Computing is another one. Broni has saved my bacon more than once and I think he is at both websites.

Malwarebytes should be able to get rid of this malware.

I agree that running a deep scan with Malwarebytes should be the first thing to do. But from what I read, it might take a bit more to get rid of it.

I agree with you Draclvr. I'm not happy with them and they have been so good for me in the past. That link that you provided is the one I looked at to "reset" IE. So I guess I will give it a try. So far today it has not popped up. I have ran Malwarebytes several times and it did find a couple of things.

Thank you for the replies.

You might also download and run the free version of SuperAntiSpyware. Sometimes one program gets things the other might miss. Do follow the other instructions in that first link too.

Draclvr, do you have a link for SuperAntiSpyware?
I did a Google seach, but a little bit afraid to download from places I'm not sure are safe.
Thank You

I know what you mean... here is the legitimate site.

SuperAntiSpyware

You might consider installing WOT which is a browser add-on that indicates which websites are more safe than others. It doesn't relieve the user of being careful, but if I see a red WOT circle next to a website when I've done a search, I definitely don't click on it.

Thanks. You won't believe what happen this afternoon. I'm getting a "blue screen." Will this ever end. So I'm pulling the plug, taking it back to the same shop.(and yelling at them) I leave on vacation Tuesday and won't be back for 11 days.

Sounds like the best thing - especially the yelling part!
