A new ransomware attack - dubbed Bad Rabbit - is hitting Europe and Russia, but has also been detected in the US. The attack poses as an Adobe Flash update popup on infected news and media websites. Even though it's not affecting most of us, it serves as a reminder to NEVER download software from a popup. Only download directly from the software company itself, in this case Adobe. A quote from one of the articles I read this morning.
The Bad Rabbit ransomware infiltrated computers by posing as an Adobe Flash installer on compromised news and media websites. It serves as a reminder that people should never download apps or software from pop-up advertisements or websites that don't belong to the software company.
