Last night, Mrs. Cue and I were sitting in the kitchen. She was planning meals for our next camping trip and I was looking at the hardwood floor that we installed a few years ago. The flooring was pre-finished so we didn't have to sand, stain or apply polyurethane. What I like about this flooring is the patchwork of shades that you get. Some are a light tan while others are almost black. We put it down in a somewhat random fashion but also made sure that we didn't end up with a checkerboard or have large areas of the same shade. It turned out great! Anyway, I noticed that one of the boards was a bit different in two ways. For one, it was a bit warmer than the rest of honey-toned boards around it and secondly, the growth rings looked more like a topographical map of the downside slope of a mountain rather than the straight lined boards around it. Noting the differences I looked at Mrs. Cue, pointed at the board and said, "Those are....." "...some amber waves of grain". Mrs. Cue looked down at what I was pointing at, gave me a sideways glance and went back to her work. The answers to these clues are all five letters long. The third letter from all of the clues, read from top to bottom, will complete the sentence above. I had one too many clues! The clues marked off are correct even though now some don't match the number that you posted against earlier. -1. fervor -2. mythical garden decoration -3. shy -4. unruly children may make one -5. a choir might sing a Gregorian one -6. he's a stand-up guy? -7. forbidden -8. Penny's homonym? (s----) -9. type of race or hat -10. use a divining rod -11. word with home or paper -12. foe -13. social media communication -14. pert -15. dagger companion -16. high -17. tenet -18. verbose -19. tic -20. process your credit card -21. type of paper or closet

Bob As I've grown older, I've found that my memory is not as good as I used to think it was.

Bob and niteowl That's the letter I'm looking for, Jema, but I have a different answer. Both can be found in a stadium.

Just trying to keep you all honest! Good answers, by the way. Flo, you're really warm but you need a five-letter answer. Well, Jema. You have three answers for #4 and none are mine. These unruly kids would say it's all just part of the act.
